Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

Yarn Along

I am kind of tired of taking pictures of this shawl!  Jonny suggested that I cast on for something else…but actually I do already have other projects on the needles.  I am only working on this shawl though until it’s finished, and until it is, I am only going to photograph it.  That’s motivation.  Of course motivation doesn’t necessarily create more time.  I am working on the charted portion at the end of the shawl…I think I have about thirty rows to go.

I finally settled on a book last week, pulling C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity off the shelf.  A classic I have owned for years, but never read, and a perfect choice for me right now.

I read C.S.Lewis once several years ago.I had to take it in little chunks to get my mind around what he was saying. 🙂

I am reading two books right now…Total Forgiveness by Kendall and You Were Born for This by Wilkinson.

This is my first yarn along! Thanks for a great place to share.

Mere Christianity was one of the first Christian books I read in highschool. It is a concise, refreshing and convicting read. I just love C.S. Lewis.

Your yarn is just beautiful, so I certainly don’t mind seeing pics of it again ;). And I love your single minded resolve! I seem to have lost mine and just cast on new projects at the slightest whim.
I actually have “Mere Christianity” on my phone at the moment, but (much like knitting) I keep getting pulled away to other reads, so I haven’t finished it yet. Actually, I’ve read it before — about 30 years ago (!), but I’ve forgotten so much, I want to read it again — hopefully soon as I finish “The Guernsey . . . ” which I can not put down at the moment.
    Blessings,
    G

I felt that way a couple of weeks ago when I was working on a blanket for what seemed like forever.
I had my yarn along post all composed in my head. But decided to skip this week because I was not loving my project so last night I spent hours on Ravelry looking for a new blanket to be made with my stash. And I hadn’t started a new book.

I am so mad that I did not see that little whale last week. I want to knit something for Lucy’s birthday next week and I wish I would have SEEN the whale in person. You have such a GREAT stash of yarn to choose from when making cute stuff like that. I have a shawl I need to finish too…but it is not happening. I get so HOT when I am knitting it because it pools in my lap. I want to make a little toy.

I can empathise with your library visit Ginny. I only had one little-one to take with me so it was always an easy task. It’s a shame that the librarian isn’t more supportive and helpful. You are raising your children to be the future of the library. It would be lovely if she could engage them. Thankfully most are…

Lewis’ book sounds interesting. I was talking to someones when I was in work a couple of days ago whose husband is writing a new biography about him and had discovered some unknown manuscripts that unfortunately the family won’t permit him to publish…a shame… It’s funny how the conversation moved from buying knitting yarn to literature…just like in yarn along…
