May is every mom’s craziest month, right? Today is May 1st, so here we go! This year April was pretty intense too. We had Lark’s senior prom and Mabel’s First Holy Communion (which will get its own post). There was the eclipse and lots of gardening. I loved the eclipse. We weren’t in a totality zone but the light was so cool nevertheless. I ran around outside taking photos and Francisco the cat photobombed them all in a very nonchalant manner as though I wasn’t there.
Larkspur’s senior prom. Next up graduation!
I just wrapped up my high school biology class. Just grading left to do and next year I have the year off from teaching high school at our co op. Teaching this class shaped my reading a lot this year. For one thing, I had to read the textbook. But it also got me thinking about all sorts of other related topics. I’ve been reading more natural history than usual and thinking that I want to create a high school natural history class. Despite all that, I have read a bit of fiction as well. I read (affiliate links) The Old Capital for book club recently and then I read Hamnet while we were recovering from illness. I think I read it in a couple of days. It was the perfect distraction! If you enjoy “novels of the plague” or historical fiction (about Shakespeare), you might really like this one.
Silas has been my beaver pond buddy lately. He fishes while I walk around seeing what I can see. It’s been a really lovely spring here. No sign of the river otter, but lots of beavers!
I just updated my shop with sachets! This is the first time I’ve made these in quite a few years. I also dyed a handful of skeins of yarn that I mordanted and then stashed away when I stopped dyeing yarn. I’ve been thinking about dyeing some over the summer, but am not sure that will happen. Dyeing these skeins made me wonder how I ever managed to dye so much yarn! I also added a few batches of goat’s milk soap. I have been getting lots of great feedback on my lip balm and hope you will try that too! I will ship orders this week so that you should have them in time for Mother’s Day.

My, how time flies! I started reading your blog probably 10 years ago! And I cannot believe that Larkspur is a senior! For some reason, this really shocked me. 🙂 But then I realize my own children are also getting unbelievably bigger…
