Thank you for all of your sweet comments on my last post, welcoming our new baby!
Ambrose is four weeks old today. He is a sweet, cuddly baby and wants to be held all of the time. He hates diaper changes and baths and makes his feelings known loudly. He has beaten the jaundice that worried our pediatrician a bit, and I am through the worst of surgery recovery. But, my body is making it clear that it’s not time for me to get back to being my usual busy self. Since I spend most of my time nursing these days, I am reading a lot and have recently started watching season one of Fixer Upper, a show I had only seen previously in waiting rooms. I sent Jonny to the paint store to pick up some paint samples over the weekend. Is that what happens when you watch this show?
Ambrose was baptized a couple of weeks ago. There was a wedding in the church that day so the baptism happened in our parish life center. It was quiet and informal, just our pastor, our family, and Ambrose’s godparents along with their children. Ambrose slept throughout and waited to ruin his gown until the very end.
I’m trying not to panic about starting our homeschool year in September, amongst other things, and doing my best to sink fully into these fleeting newborn days. It’s okay to not be ready or able to get back to regular life just yet.
I’ll tell you about his name as soon as I have a good opportunity to type with both hands!
Congratulations! Lovely little face peeping out.
Absolutely beautiful – the baby boy, the family, the baby bird, the flowers – all of God’s creation shows so beautifully in your photos now and always. Enjoy this special time with your new little one.
Ginny, Ambrose is absolutely gorgeous! And his baptism looks like it was perfect. Many prayers for your healing and rest.
He is so precious just enjoy because he will grow so fast and you need to heal.
I am waiting for hip surgery at end on month , please pray for me at 78 it has been a long wait because of Covid . I have been enjoying your pictures and your beautiful family for about last six years..May God Bless all of you.

Dear Sandra, You are in my prayers! Love, Ginny
I love his name. Our last would have been Ambrose if we had had a boy!
He is so precious. These early days go by so fast, all the cuddles and snuggling and simplicity of just doing those things that are necessary. Wonderful! May your recovery continue in the right direction…many blessings for your family!
Peace be with you!
Olivia
Another beautiful baby!
I’ve thought of you and your family a time or two over the last few weeks wondering how you were all doing. It looks like Ambrose is fitting right into your amazing family. Take care and enjoy him while you can.
Oh Ambrose – he is perfect! Enjoy every moment; you are clearly doing a wonderful job. My baby boy (William) is 10 weeks old today and also loves to be held all day long (and most of the night). I’ve loved following your story (from here in Australia) and can’t wait to see and hear more about Ambrose as he grows. Take care and God Bless.
Congratulations on your gorgeous baby boy! How sweet to see him so embraced and loved by all his older siblings. Rest and enjoy these early snuggly days.
Beautiful baby and love all the helpers you have. Your new little boy looks like one of your other little boys! Strong family resemblance. Rest, heal and allow the Lord to order your days. He knows your needs.
Beautiful photos!
Such a handsome boy! But, rest now because he sounds like he has “personality” and will definitely know what he likes and wants. Lucky for him he has so many extra Mamas and Papas and lucky for you–rest as often as you can!
He is such a beautiful boy. Congratulations!
Blessings to you. Ambrose is amazing, such a cutie. Please put school off a little longer and just hold that sweet little one. Your older children will help, and remember, Ambrose is part of their story too.
Hi Ginny, Glad Ambrose’s jaundice is gone. He is beautiful and seems so contented. Larkspur looks so motherly and gentle holding Ambrose. Hope you are feeling better. God Bless.

My mother gave my eldest son a boy doll when he was a toddler and we named the doll “Ambrose.” I can’t remember exactly why, but it might have been because my son’s name is Augustine and St. Ambrose was St. Augustine’s mentor. My son is 33 and that doll is long gone. Your post reminded me of it.
So wonderful to have so many hands to help and love on the baby. Keep reading and resting. If you want something pleasant and non-dramatic to read, I recommend Miss Read’s “Miss Clare Remembers” (#4 in the Fairacre series).
Hi Kate! I have read the first in that series. Do you recommend this one above the others, and is it “okay” to read out of order? Thank you!
Congratulations on your beautiful baby! I just wanted to second this book recommendation. Anything by Mrs. Read is wonderful. You don’t have to read the books in order. They are so calming and easy to read. I don’t know of another author who is able to write about the mundane details of domestic life in such a satisfying way. I read them when life gets hectic and when I want to be cozy in winter. There are so many in each series so it will take a while to run out. I can’t recommend them enough!
Your son is very cute!
God’s blessings to Ambrose and you and your family!
Ambrose is a doll. he is so contented in Larkspur’s arms. Feel better soon.

my very best to you all.
Such a sweet baby boy! Love his name, it’s Saintly!
Praying for all of your family in these special times.
So very happy for you and your family, Ginny. Enjoy every moment.
How it warms my heart to see your children so engaged with the new brother. This little child has no idea of how blessed he is by coming into this family.
Precious baby boy! How fortunate he is to be surrounded by love from parents and siblings. I love you photographs, Ginny. So dear.
The Fixer Upper couple have brought a revolution to the small city of Waco, Texas. Their fame and creativity have sparked enormous changes. Waco was a sort of sleepy college town on I35 that had little appeal for most folks. Our older son went to TSTI there for several years and it was dullsville. Now the Magnolia folks have changed all that. There are tours of their facility and scads of people come to shop. I think Joann has a magnetic appeal that comes through in those shows. I hope you enjoy them.
Full hands, full hearts. He’s just beautiful Ginny. Take care and ease in.❤️
He is just precious!
My husband’s grandfather’s name was Ambrose. This is only the second time I’ve heard that name.
God bless your sweet family
Anne ❤️
Simply beautiful. As always, your photos are so lovely and peaceful to look at. Wishing you continued healing and well-being. I’m sure the home schooling will fall into place as you take it one day at a time. God bless you all.
He’s beautiful! And all in due time … =)
He is just a darling. What a sweet little face … Blessings and peace to you, Ginny! Rest, heal, nurse — the lesson routine will return in good time. Also, I love his name. St. Ambrose is a close favorite saint of mine 🤗
So sweet! Thanks for sharing….rest and recuperate….(also, your hydrangeas are beautiful as well)
