As I write this on Tuesday evening, I am sitting in a very messy house. I have spent the past week focusing most of my free time finishing up the pattern for my Sunday Sweater. I cast on another one too, in some orange yarn that we dyed last summer. I am hoping to have the Sunday Sweater pattern available in the next couple of weeks. Now I have to shift my attention to my house because we have company coming to stay tomorrow. I am having issues getting focused on the cleaning that needs to happen, there are just too many choices. I am doing silly things like organizing books and pencils when I really should be cleaning floors and toilets.
I am on the last chapter of All Wound Up, and have read the introduction to Project Based Homeschooling, a book that people keep telling me that I absolutely need to read. So I am! I can always use homeschooling motivation and inspiration, and the introduction to the book alone has me excited.

Oh I love your knitting! I have that book on the way, I am thinking of homeschooling my 13 yr old son next year and need to do some research. Regular school just doesnt seem to be right for him…..but its very scary for me!

I just returned “All Wound Up” to the library, after a week of trying to get into it and just feeling so negative afterwards (although I agree with her rants on TV and people who say they don’t have time to knit)! ♥ Beautiful orange, is it pima cotton from Purl? I have some like it here…just made an alien.
As much as I love her, that was my least favorite of her books, so I know what you mean. The yarn is superwash merino that I ordered from wool2dye4.
That book looks interesting – I wonder if it could combine with “Classical Homeschooling”? I am definitely getting it. We love your Sunday Sweater!
I just got Project-based homeschooling from Stephinie’s recommendation (Gypsy Forest). Good stuff. I’m passing it around our homeschooling co-op parents now.

Pretty color and sweater. My house is a mess too since we were sick for two weeks. I have no motivation to clean at all. I’ve heard of project based homeschooling….been seeing it around the internet a lot lately.

These are the sizes: 0-3 months, 6 months, 12-18 months, 2/3, 4/5, and 6/7. Eventually I will add one more size up as well.

Joining in again. I’m the complete opposite of you when it comes to visitors, I throw myself into a cleaning frenzy that can last all day and well into the night if need be!! I guess you could say we are two sides of the same coin?!!

I used project based homeschooling with my boys, it’s a fabulous approach.

But, I’m commenting today to tell you about a book I borrowed after browsing the new section while waiting at the library. “ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize Your Life” is the title and a Google search tells me the authors are Judith Kolberg & Kathleen Nadeau. I don’t worry much about diagnoses and such; I’m more interested in whether or not an idea is helpful to me. Some of the ideas/ suggested approaches in this book have definitely helped me with my own trees-for-the-forest (or pencils & books for the floors & toilet) difficulties around getting the house clean/ organized and the frustration I feel with myself over those things. So, in that spirit, I recommend it.
I wonder if I’ve read that book? I have read a couple on ADD and organizing. I got the diagnosis in college, but agree with you that the diagnosis means very little to me, I am mostly interested in figuring out how to be more efficient and organized in ways that are in keeping with my personality type. I am happy right now because toilets and floors are clean AND books and pencils are organized!

Eagerly awaiting the Sunday Sweater pattern–so much so that I unwound a back to school sweater I had started for my older daughter. I had looked and looked for just the right pattern, but was going to ‘make do’ with a so-so one. As soon as I saw your creation, I knew it would be perfect. Can’t wait!!!
I borrowed the ‘All Wound up’ book from our library this summer and spent the last 4 weeks renewing and turning the house upside down for it…. It was finally unearthed in the back-to-school organizing, and now I’m over the renewal limit and only a couple chapters in.

I am interested to know what you think about Project based Homeschooling? While I am on my last four years as a homeschool Mom and for high school have core subjects that must be taught, I am still intestested in learning new ideas to add to our days.

Ginny, That pattern is coming along very nicely and I can’t wait to see all of it. The color of the yarn makes me want to make one : ) I too have a hard time pulling myself away from what I want to organize when I should be organizing other more “important” things but when its 2 hours till the guests arrive I spring into action. Organising books and pencils is tidying isn’t that is exactly what I do when the rest of the house is a pigsty! I would love to know what you think of Project Based Homeschooling, I was reading about that somewhere else this week. It is loosely what we do here.

The color of yarn is beautiful. I love orange. Both books sound interesting and good luck with the cleaning. I used to love cleaning before children because it gave me such a sense of accomplishment but now I’d rather spend time doing something fun with the girls. Here’s to hoping the cleaning fairy visits your house!
