~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

As I write this on Tuesday evening, I am sitting in a very messy house. I have spent the past week focusing most of my free time finishing up the pattern for my Sunday Sweater. I cast on another one too, in some orange yarn that we dyed last summer. I am hoping to have the Sunday Sweater pattern available in the next couple of weeks. Now I have to shift my attention to my house because we have company coming to stay tomorrow. I am having issues getting focused on the cleaning that needs to happen, there are just too many choices. I am doing silly things like organizing books and pencils when I really should be cleaning floors and toilets.
I am on the last chapter of All Wound Up, and have read the introduction to Project Based Homeschooling, a book that people keep telling me that I absolutely need to read. So I am! I can always use homeschooling motivation and inspiration, and the introduction to the book alone has me excited.

Hi Ginny! That orange yarn looks perfect for fall and makes me wish for cooler weather. I’m excited to see your sweater pattern!
Oh, Ginny, the orange is gorgeous!
Oh I love your knitting! I have that book on the way, I am thinking of homeschooling my 13 yr old son next year and need to do some research. Regular school just doesnt seem to be right for him…..but its very scary for me!
I love the orange! Perfect for fall. Good luck finishing up your pattern.
I am loving your pattern and that beautiful color of yarn. It is just so vibrant!
What a lovely orange!
I just returned “All Wound Up” to the library, after a week of trying to get into it and just feeling so negative afterwards (although I agree with her rants on TV and people who say they don’t have time to knit)! ♥ Beautiful orange, is it pima cotton from Purl? I have some like it here…just made an alien.
As much as I love her, that was my least favorite of her books, so I know what you mean. The yarn is superwash merino that I ordered from wool2dye4.
That book looks interesting – I wonder if it could combine with “Classical Homeschooling”? I am definitely getting it. We love your Sunday Sweater!
I just got Project-based homeschooling from Stephinie’s recommendation (Gypsy Forest). Good stuff. I’m passing it around our homeschooling co-op parents now.
That orange is beautiful! And Lori’s book is a winner! I’m in the last section of it right now 😉
I love that orange!
Love the color! 🙂
That shade of orange looks amazing!
I’m so looking forward to the days I find time knitting for myself… 🙂
That Autumn orange is one of my favorite colors!
What a perfect colour for Autumn! 🙂
I LOVE the Lori Picket book, I just finished it this week. It has absolutely encouraged and inspired me, and how I observe and record for the children has already changed. xx
Oooo… that orange yarn is yummy!
This is my first week playing along. Thanks so much for hosting such a fabulous meme.
Pretty color and sweater. My house is a mess too since we were sick for two weeks. I have no motivation to clean at all. I’ve heard of project based homeschooling….been seeing it around the internet a lot lately.
Looking forward to your pattern Ginny. I know just what you mean about not doing what I supposed to be doing. Enjoy your company!
that orange looks great, i think it will be lovely for fall. excited about the pattern. will you have it sized for little ones at all?
These are the sizes: 0-3 months, 6 months, 12-18 months, 2/3, 4/5, and 6/7. Eventually I will add one more size up as well.
I’ve heard about the book – it sounds great, even if you’re not homeschooling. 🙂
The yarn looks lovely; I am looking forward to that pattern.
Joining in again. I’m the complete opposite of you when it comes to visitors, I throw myself into a cleaning frenzy that can last all day and well into the night if need be!! I guess you could say we are two sides of the same coin?!!
Love your knitting and will be purchasing a pattern or two from you before too long!
San xx
Can’t wait for the pattern!
I’m loving the color of that yarn; rust is so perfect for September.
Love the yarn colour 🙂
I used project based homeschooling with my boys, it’s a fabulous approach.
Beautiful yarn & knitting. I’m looking forward to your pattern.
But, I’m commenting today to tell you about a book I borrowed after browsing the new section while waiting at the library. “ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize Your Life” is the title and a Google search tells me the authors are Judith Kolberg & Kathleen Nadeau. I don’t worry much about diagnoses and such; I’m more interested in whether or not an idea is helpful to me. Some of the ideas/ suggested approaches in this book have definitely helped me with my own trees-for-the-forest (or pencils & books for the floors & toilet) difficulties around getting the house clean/ organized and the frustration I feel with myself over those things. So, in that spirit, I recommend it.
I wonder if I’ve read that book? I have read a couple on ADD and organizing. I got the diagnosis in college, but agree with you that the diagnosis means very little to me, I am mostly interested in figuring out how to be more efficient and organized in ways that are in keeping with my personality type. I am happy right now because toilets and floors are clean AND books and pencils are organized!
I love the pumpkin orange and I can’t wait to see your pattern. 🙂 Good luck with the cleaning!
Eagerly awaiting the Sunday Sweater pattern–so much so that I unwound a back to school sweater I had started for my older daughter. I had looked and looked for just the right pattern, but was going to ‘make do’ with a so-so one. As soon as I saw your creation, I knew it would be perfect. Can’t wait!!!
I borrowed the ‘All Wound up’ book from our library this summer and spent the last 4 weeks renewing and turning the house upside down for it…. It was finally unearthed in the back-to-school organizing, and now I’m over the renewal limit and only a couple chapters in.
LOVE the orange wool!!
Oh wow! Thank you! What size is your daughter?
Lovely knitting and lovely colour! The book you are reading looks good too.
Love the orangy yarn, the sweater will be beautiful like your work always is! Good luck with the house cleaning!
I love the color of the yarn you are using for your current project ~ it will be beautiful when done! I’ve found myself procrastinating a bit when it comes to housework lately too. For me, I just have too much going on and find that I’m running out of time 🙂
Wow – you dyed that? Gorgeous! Now I REALLY have to get going on dying my own yarn. 🙂
What a gorgeous orange yarn! Perfect for fall.
I’ve never heard of the homeschooling book you mentioned, but I am glad you did because, like you, I am always looking for homeschool help and inspiration!
Oooh, pretty! I am not usually a fan of orange but I love that shade!
That orange yarn is lovely! The homeschooling book looks awesome too. I think that will be added to my next Amazon order 🙂 We are just starting our official homeschool journey, official because she would otherwise be in the public school this year (at 4!), and I am looking for all the info I can get my hands on!
The orange yarn is beautiful and I can’t wait until you make your pattern available!!!
Lucky for me I have a plummer coming on Friday to install new bathtub taps and that means I HAVE to clean out two closets for them to proceed. I hope you get motivated to clean for your company. Looking forward to seeing your pattern.
Oh, I do love that orange! It’s so cheerful, and it will look so nice in that lovely pattern of yours… I will have to take a look at ‘Project-Based Homeschooling’ – I just read the description & it sounds like just the sort of thing I am looking for. Now get back to cleaning so you won’t have to rush in the few hours before your company arrives! (Hope springs eternal, right?) xo
That’s a lovely sweater! I really want to read Stephanie’s books some day. I love her blog and from what I hear about it those books are really funny. Too bad it’s hard to find them here… (yarning along for the first time here, thank you for letting me participate)
Beautiful colour! And looking forward to your thoughts on Project Based Homeschooling, I have heard a lot about it.
I am interested to know what you think about Project based Homeschooling? While I am on my last four years as a homeschool Mom and for high school have core subjects that must be taught, I am still intestested in learning new ideas to add to our days.
what a lovely color! I would like to try to make myself a sweater someday, too. I haven’t tried once. Last winter I got some orange yarn, planned to try something warm for the winter. Looking forward to seeing your new sweater in orange!
Ginny, That pattern is coming along very nicely and I can’t wait to see all of it. The color of the yarn makes me want to make one : ) I too have a hard time pulling myself away from what I want to organize when I should be organizing other more “important” things but when its 2 hours till the guests arrive I spring into action. Sending you some speedy cleaning thoughts.
Organising books and pencils is tidying isn’t that is exactly what I do when the rest of the house is a pigsty! I would love to know what you think of Project Based Homeschooling, I was reading about that somewhere else this week. It is loosely what we do here.
I read today that nothing motivates people more than the last minute. Hope you managed to get everything done in time. Your photo is lovely, as usual. I love Stephanie Pearl-McPhee. I shall be looking that book up. 🙂
Looking forward to the Sunday Sweater pattern! It’s looking lovely with the orange yarn.
The Sunday Sweater is a beautiful project and the orange is going to be gorgeous. Thank you so much for your kind message you sent about my dad Ginny, I really appreciate it.
Linda
The color of yarn is beautiful. I love orange. Both books sound interesting and good luck with the cleaning. I used to love cleaning before children because it gave me such a sense of accomplishment but now I’d rather spend time doing something fun with the girls. Here’s to hoping the cleaning fairy visits your house!
I’ve never seen that home schooling book before.
Good luck with your cleaning! I do that – procrastinate or do silly jobs until the last couple of hours and then run around like a headless chicken!
