Knitting on Keats’ Milo picked up this week. I also blew the surprise when I tried to casually measure the distance between his shoulder and armpit. He was on to me immediately. That’s okay. It’s miles of stockinette now, and if Keats knows about it, he can help me knit it.
Somehow I ended up picking up what I believe are Stephanie Pearl-Mcphee’s first and latest books this week. All Wound Up has actual chapters, so I read a bit at bedtime. At Knit’s End has little snippets, so I pick that up when I have a minute here or there. I was a little slow to move into the reading about knitting genre, but when I finish these, I think I will have read all of Stephanie’s books. It’s nice to be reading a couple of light funny books that focus on knitting especially because September is going to be far too busy and I am stressing just thinking about it. I am ready for fall temperatures, but as for all the rest, I’m not quite there yet.

I know how you feel about September coming… lots of stress along with the cooler weather!

I just knit a couple Milo’s with worsted too; I also dropped the needle size and both turned out about two sizes larger than the instructions I was knitting from (knit size 4 for a size 6 result). I have notes on my Rav pages for those interested:

I love the Yarn Harlot, too. Have you ever watched one of the YouTube videos showing how fast she knits? It is truly amazing. Gorgeous colors in that Milo (I always like the colors you choose)–can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.

I have yarn sitting here waiting to knit into my first Milo. I love the colors you chose – so fun. I also like McPhee’s books and had not seen that last one. Happy stockinette stitch knitting!
She is quite a hoot! Knitting Rules! is probably my favorite of her knitting books. The generic sock pattern is the one I used for my first grown-up sock.

I knit a Milo for Gemma last year with the Chroma, and it turned out very nice. I think your project notes would be great for those of us who’d like to knit Milos in larger sizes!
Nadja, all I am doing it knitting the size 6–the chroma is worsted weight (rather than the dk weight called for in the pattern) and the thing looks huge to me–

The colors are lovely! I started the size 6 Milo for my youngest who is nearly 8, but its not going to fit and I don’t know how to make it bigger!! Any suggestions??

I am using worsted weight yarn rather than dk, and the vest looks really big to me–I didn’t do anything technical or responsible like knit a gauge swatch, so hopefully it’s going to work!

I love Stephanie’s books. They’re so hilarious, I often end up finishing them in one go and then mourn that the book didn’t last longer.
