Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

Yarn Along

Not much knitting or reading this week.  I did finish A Girl of the Limberlost, but I haven’t been motivated to pick up any more fiction.  I am slowly reading Walking with God as a companion to the Bible Study that I am working through over the next year or so. It’s a great book, and was written to stand alone.
I am at that point on my shawl where it doesn’t seem to be changing size.  It’s like the rows just get eaten up as I knit them.  That’s okay.  It’s just the sort of knitting I need right now.

How about all of you…any progress out there?

I always love the Yarn Along, and always forget to particpate. Last night I actually posted about the Harry Potter scarves I am knitting, so the timing worked great!

I love the shawl, you are inspiring me to try one. 🙂 Thanks for all you do. Your blog makes me happy every day.

    Hi Ginny,
I am also reading Walking with God. I picked it up as a companion to the history curriculum my children will be using next year. I’m not sure what you use at home for history, but it may interest you. It’s called RC History. (Roman Catholic History). I’m very pleased with what I have seen so far and can’t wait to get started with my kids next year!
    God bless,
    Jodi

Those colours are lovely, Ginny. I’ve been following your blog for a couple of years now, and in that time I have wondered once or twice if I’m in the right place, as an atheist/humanist/don’t really put a tag on myself. But I always come back to your beautiful and inspiring posts. Many thanks x

The colorway for the shawl is lovely. 🙂 Not as much knitting around here either. It’s that time of year, I think. So much to be done outside, or in the kitchen, not as much time sitting with my needles.

Those colors are so pretty. I’m doing some crochet along with knitting right now. Can’t make one thing for one of my girls without making something for the other. Since I don’t have more knitting needles, but quite a few crochet hooks, I can now work on something for both girls at the same time.

Not much reading going on at my house, but there was a lot of spinning and a fiber festival thrown in there too. Hang in there – one day soon you will look at your project and say “It’s done!”

The shawl is beautiful. I know what you mean about the rows getting “eaten” as you knit them. That’s why there’s an unfinished baby blanket tossed in my stash somewhere.

That’s like Julia’s dress – I kept knitting and knitting – I mean, hours of knitting rounds and rounds and rounds – and then I would measure it and it was a half inch longer. It was awful! But then all of a sudden it sprung out to the length I needed and that was that. I can’t wait to see your finished shawl… xo

I was feeling the same way about my hot water bottle cozy, like I was knitting in circles and getting no where. I put it down for awhile and started another project. When I picked it up again it seemed to have grown a couple of inches. Perhaps if you ignore your lovely shawl for a little while it will grow a little too? 🙂

Lovely yarn for your shawl Ginny. I’m making one also and it is very slow going! usually i’m never in much of a hurry to finish things but i’d like this one to be finished for a wedding in ten days. Obviously I keep making mistakes and thus making the going even slower!

Hugs to you as you worry about your friend’s son. It sounds like that kind of knitting can be therapeutic. While my niece was hospitalized last week, I couldn’t knit. Too many what-ifs halted my hands. Now she is home and fine, and I am able to knit again.

Knitting over here…still trying to understand tension . I am finding I cannot just knit away..I need to write everything down and check off as I go….row by row. I am pleased with results so far. Looking forward to the part of pattern where I can bring project along and not have to think too much and just knit rows. I found waiting in doctors offices and carpool lines goes by much faster. Have a nice day

As far as the pattern is concerned, our knitting is similar today 🙂 what can I say – garter stitch. on the other hand, with this kind of knitting you take it up and put it down easily, with so many other things going on all the time. and if you stick to it, you can get into a very meditative mood as well.

Thank you for sharing! Best regards

This week I am in the throes of designing my own socks, my first pattern for ravelry – the photo was taken by the fire yesterday, it was all going well until this morning, when I had to pull most of them back! no book this week, I am afraid, I am just too busy!
