~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
Not much knitting or reading this week. I did finish A Girl of the Limberlost, but I haven’t been motivated to pick up any more fiction. I am slowly reading Walking with God as a companion to the Bible Study that I am working through over the next year or so. It’s a great book, and was written to stand alone.
I am at that point on my shawl where it doesn’t seem to be changing size. It’s like the rows just get eaten up as I knit them. That’s okay. It’s just the sort of knitting I need right now.
How about all of you…any progress out there?

The book you are reading looks very interesting. You shawl looks great.
Well, your reading can’t be much worse than mine, I am watching Downton Abbey season 2 this week!
Your shawl looks lovely so far! I’m about to go on vacation, and am bringing yarn for a shawl of my own; hope I find some time to crochet!
I am loving the colours of your shawl. I love wearing shawls, but row eating projects are not for me right now! 🙂
Wow! what a great idea! I’ve been loving reading yours and Taryns posts, but this is my first! thanks!
My dear friend..I sense your sadness. I am praying for them . And you!! Your call to prayer has been such a gift to them and me. You do so much good Ginny!!
Lisa
it’s done!
I always love the Yarn Along, and always forget to particpate. Last night I actually posted about the Harry Potter scarves I am knitting, so the timing worked great!
I love the shawl, you are inspiring me to try one. 🙂 Thanks for all you do. Your blog makes me happy every day.
I started Limberlost last week, but have had no time to read it love the shawl!
I’m linking to this for the first time! I’m really excited! Your shawl looks lovely. I love the color you chose!
Your shawl wool is beautiful!!! i must get started on my next knitting project — I have 2 different shawls to decide between.
The shawl is looking good, such lovely, calm colors. Love calm colors. 🙂
I love the color of the shawl.
I just learned to crochet and I am making a sleeveless vest for my second baby to be born in July or August.
I love being part of Yarn Along
Warm greetings to all from Chile
Hi Ginny,
I am also reading Walking with God. I picked it up as a companion to the history curriculum my children will be using next year. I’m not sure what you use at home for history, but it may interest you. It’s called RC History. (Roman Catholic History). I’m very pleased with what I have seen so far and can’t wait to get started with my kids next year!
God bless,
Jodi
Finally sharing a finished project, but like you most of my other projects aren’t really getting any bigger :S
Stitches getting eaten up . . . . ha I know that feeling. You describe it perfectly. Your shawl is beautiful. I love the colors.
Very little progress here too. I think it’s one of those weeks all around. 🙂
Beautiful Yarn! sorry for the double link post on the yarn along , i noticed that my first was linked to a project I did months ago….
I haven’t really been reading much this week, just a little bit here and there before going to sleep. But I’m planning on getting lots of knitting in over the next two days, with a knitting marathon.
Those colours are lovely, Ginny. I’ve been following your blog for a couple of years now, and in that time I have wondered once or twice if I’m in the right place, as an atheist/humanist/don’t really put a tag on myself. But I always come back to your beautiful and inspiring posts. Many thanks x
Beautiful color!!! I always think that maybe I’m boring by showing the same project for a few weeks on my blog, but seeing your shawl come to life is fun! Thanks for making me feel better. Have a great day 🙂
Yarns getting eaten up…I like that!
I really love the colors in the yarn you’ve chosen for your shawl. Beautiful!
Thanks for hosting this each week Ginny.
The colorway for the shawl is lovely. 🙂 Not as much knitting around here either. It’s that time of year, I think. So much to be done outside, or in the kitchen, not as much time sitting with my needles.
After knitting a garter stitch shawl earlier this year, I’ve been so tempted to cast on for more. Your is lovely! I’m afraid I won’t be able to resist.
I love your shawl and the colors are wonderful!
Those colors are so pretty. I’m doing some crochet along with knitting right now. Can’t make one thing for one of my girls without making something for the other. Since I don’t have more knitting needles, but quite a few crochet hooks, I can now work on something for both girls at the same time.
I love the colors of your yarn. Garter stitch is so comforting sometimes!
Not much reading going on at my house, but there was a lot of spinning and a fiber festival thrown in there too. Hang in there – one day soon you will look at your project and say “It’s done!”
The shawl is beautiful. I know what you mean about the rows getting “eaten” as you knit them. That’s why there’s an unfinished baby blanket tossed in my stash somewhere.
That’s like Julia’s dress – I kept knitting and knitting – I mean, hours of knitting rounds and rounds and rounds – and then I would measure it and it was a half inch longer. It was awful! But then all of a sudden it sprung out to the length I needed and that was that. I can’t wait to see your finished shawl… xo
A little slow on the knitting front for me too this week, the garden was calling my name 🙂
Happy knitting!
This is my first time joining the yarn along, but I’ll be, hopefully, checking in every Wed. now! I can’t wait to see what everyone has on their hooks and needles. 🙂
I was feeling the same way about my hot water bottle cozy, like I was knitting in circles and getting no where. I put it down for awhile and started another project. When I picked it up again it seemed to have grown a couple of inches. Perhaps if you ignore your lovely shawl for a little while it will grow a little too? 🙂
Hi Ginny, I’m enjoying A Girl of the Limberlost this week. Happy knitting!
Your shawl is looking good. Some projects seems to eat up rows, but then all of a sudden you can see a whole lot of progress. Happy knitting. Jacinta
Great colours in your yarn – it could span multiple seasons!
I have been meaning to join in with the Yarn Along for a while but I’m in for the first time today 🙂
This is my first time joining in with the Yarn Along. Looking forward to seeing what you are all reading/making!
I love your yarn. Such beautiful colours.
your yarn is beautiful!! I’m finally getting back into knitting after some time off so great to be back along in the ‘Yarn Along’ again xx
Lovely yarn for your shawl Ginny. I’m making one also and it is very slow going! usually i’m never in much of a hurry to finish things but i’d like this one to be finished for a wedding in ten days. Obviously I keep making mistakes and thus making the going even slower!
Have a lovely week.
That’s the biggest problem with garter-stitch … it never seems to grow …
Glad you enjoyed Girl of the Limberlost!
Hugs to you as you worry about your friend’s son. It sounds like that kind of knitting can be therapeutic. While my niece was hospitalized last week, I couldn’t knit. Too many what-ifs halted my hands. Now she is home and fine, and I am able to knit again.
Knitting over here…still trying to understand tension . I am finding I cannot just knit away..I need to write everything down and check off as I go….row by row. I am pleased with results so far. Looking forward to the part of pattern where I can bring project along and not have to think too much and just knit rows. I found waiting in doctors offices and carpool lines goes by much faster. Have a nice day
I really want to knit myself a shawl. I have been planning to every year and never get around to it. Maybe this year is the year 🙂
Your knitting and reading week sounds like mine 🙂 going slowly!!
As far as the pattern is concerned, our knitting is similar today 🙂 what can I say – garter stitch. on the other hand, with this kind of knitting you take it up and put it down easily, with so many other things going on all the time. and if you stick to it, you can get into a very meditative mood as well.
Thank you for sharing! Best regards
lovely photo Ginny! I love the muted colours of your scarf – keep plugging away! This week I am in the throes of designing my own socks, my first pattern for ravelry – the photo was taken by the fire yesterday, it was all going well until this morning, when I had to pull most of them back! no book this week, I am afraid, I am just too busy!

have a good week,
Louisa
My cardigan has been eating my rows too, but now that I am so close to finishing I just keep knitting along!
Hope all is well in your world Ginny.
