Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
Yarn Along

Yarn Along
I am sharing two photos today because I couldn’t help but step back and capture the real situation in my kitchen this afternoon.  Silas and Beatrix are sick and Beatrix actually never changed out of her nightgown today.  I like the pretty shot of my knitting and book, but the second photo captures my day.  I kind of like seeing my messy countertops and Beatrix with her uncombed hair and the marks from yesterdays’ marker incident still on her face.  This is what my life really looks like.

The weather here has been cool again, and I am wishing that I could wear my February Lady Sweater!  I am sure that just as I finish it, things will heat up again.  I am getting close to being finished with the body, and it should only be another few days before I can move on to the sleeves.  Of course with Beatrix and Silas sick, that may not actually work out the way I am hoping.  I feel like I am moving so slowly on this project, but it actually knits up very quickly.

I was afraid that I would have to confess today that I am honestly reading half a dozen books right now without feeling like I am getting close to finishing any of them.  While that is still true, a friend loaned me her copy of Style, Sex, and Substance a few days ago and I abandoned all my other books and read it cover to cover in a couple of days.  I absolutely loved it and am going to buy myself a copy so I can reread it while marking my favorite parts and dog earing the pages.

Just got to say, your mess doesn’t have a patch on the kitchen surfaces here and my kids aren’t sick so I have no excuse! Looking forwards to seeing the February Lady some more.

Sounds like a great book! I’m reviewing Naturally FUn Parties for Kids today — I can’t remember who put me on to that book initially, but it may have been you. If it was, thanks!!!!!

That is how I have been reading books lately…many at a time!
I am not officially joining you this week…I didn’t share one of many books I am reading in my post…but I did link to my post because I shared a super simple beginner kitty cat tutorial.

You could come up here to Michigan and finish and wear your sweater. We’re in the middle of a cold snap (and had snow yesterday!).

I like your “real life” photo, Ginny. Right now we are mostly ill over here and I succumbed to the head cold Monday. I stayed in pajamas all day yesterday and don’t know if I’ll change out of them today.

I can’t seem to pick up the knitting needles lately…I am waiting for the desire to strike again. Your sweater is lovely, and is making me think of of what I might like to knit for myself…

That yarn is beautiful & I cannot wait to see your finished sweater. I have had that pattern in my Ravelry queue forever & hopefully one of these days I’ll find the time to make it… Not participating today because I got literally two rounds knitted on my current project & it looks almost exactly the same as it did last week! Hopefully next week I’ll have more progress to share… xo

I love both shots. And of course your short depth of field is a plus when ‘hiding’ the messy countertops 🙂 Actually – what is that large silver thing? A coffee urn? I’ve been looking for one.

Hope the kids feel better, and you’re able to get to those sleeves. But if you don’t,that’s okay. The sleeves can wait; the kids…well…

It looks really pretty, Ginny! My February Lady was run over by the stroller at the zoo on Fri, so it needs to be washed and I can’t wear it today in this chilly weather either. Ho hum. I actually started another sweater right after my FLS that needs to be finished. Maybe the cooler weather will inspire me!
