~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

I am sharing two photos today because I couldn’t help but step back and capture the real situation in my kitchen this afternoon. Silas and Beatrix are sick and Beatrix actually never changed out of her nightgown today. I like the pretty shot of my knitting and book, but the second photo captures my day. I kind of like seeing my messy countertops and Beatrix with her uncombed hair and the marks from yesterdays’ marker incident still on her face. This is what my life really looks like.
The weather here has been cool again, and I am wishing that I could wear my February Lady Sweater! I am sure that just as I finish it, things will heat up again. I am getting close to being finished with the body, and it should only be another few days before I can move on to the sleeves. Of course with Beatrix and Silas sick, that may not actually work out the way I am hoping. I feel like I am moving so slowly on this project, but it actually knits up very quickly.
I was afraid that I would have to confess today that I am honestly reading half a dozen books right now without feeling like I am getting close to finishing any of them. While that is still true, a friend loaned me her copy of Style, Sex, and Substance a few days ago and I abandoned all my other books and read it cover to cover in a couple of days. I absolutely loved it and am going to buy myself a copy so I can reread it while marking my favorite parts and dog earing the pages.

hope your little ones will be better soon x
Love the photo of Beatrix in her nightie — real life as we know it ^v^. As I type this I’m still in my p. j.’s too — oh well.
Blessings to you Ginny,
G
Oh, and I’ve got to check out “Style, Sex, & Substance” — sounds good!
Just got to say, your mess doesn’t have a patch on the kitchen surfaces here and my kids aren’t sick so I have no excuse! Looking forwards to seeing the February Lady some more.
Your cardigan is really coming out lovely- it looks wonderful 🙂
Sounds like a great book! I’m reviewing Naturally FUn Parties for Kids today — I can’t remember who put me on to that book initially, but it may have been you. If it was, thanks!!!!!
I’m so excited to join in my first yarn along! p.s. I just launched this my new blog. I’d love to have you all visit!
I’ve been knitting with green this week, too. Sorry about the sick kiddos–hope they’re better soon. I appreciate the “real” photo–reminds me that we all have real lives. Hope you squeeze some knitting and reading in today!
That is how I have been reading books lately…many at a time!
I am not officially joining you this week…I didn’t share one of many books I am reading in my post…but I did link to my post because I shared a super simple beginner kitty cat tutorial.
So happy to join in this week!
Oh I hope that Silas and Bea feel better soon.
You could come up here to Michigan and finish and wear your sweater. We’re in the middle of a cold snap (and had snow yesterday!).
I have to look for that book. I hope your littles get well soon! We are fending off illness here too, but it’s me that’s been sick! HUGS!
Pretty color. I’m still working on my first knitting project that I started back in February, while taking care of the kids, and getting settled into our new place.
I’ve been reading about that book on other blogs and it sounds really good. Maybe I’ll be able to snag a copy of it at some point too.
I like your “real life” photo, Ginny. Right now we are mostly ill over here and I succumbed to the head cold Monday. I stayed in pajamas all day yesterday and don’t know if I’ll change out of them today.
I can’t seem to pick up the knitting needles lately…I am waiting for the desire to strike again. Your sweater is lovely, and is making me think of of what I might like to knit for myself…
hope everyone is on the mend soon!
i knew you would be loving on that book. it is sooooo good.
Isn’t it great when a book absorbs you like that!
That yarn is beautiful & I cannot wait to see your finished sweater. I have had that pattern in my Ravelry queue forever & hopefully one of these days I’ll find the time to make it… Not participating today because I got literally two rounds knitted on my current project & it looks almost exactly the same as it did last week! Hopefully next week I’ll have more progress to share… xo
Hope your little ones feel better soon! Looking forward to seeing your finished sweater! 🙂
I keep seeing/hearing so much about that book going round the Internets. I am going to have to check it out soon!
I am playing with the idea of finally knitting something for myself again, and I think it’ll have to be a cardi in a lovely green like that, my favourite colour!
Thank you for sharing both photos! It’s always so interesting to step back and see the context of our lives. I hope everyone feels better soon!
The knitting looks beautiful. Hope everyone feels better soon.
I so love that rich green you’re knitting with- and great stitch definition from that yarn! I’m almost ready to get back to knitting for myself after knitting for baby these last few months- I think I may start with a February Lady Sweater. I’ve so enjoyed watching yours grow!
I love the idea of seeing what’s Really behind all of our beautifully composed photos! Thanks for sharing yours; perhaps I’ll be inspired to do the same next time. : )
Hope everyone feels better soon. Cherish the “nightgown” days. The time will come when all your little ones will be big ones and they’ll be scattered everywhere doing their own thing.
Lovely sweater!
Oh, that sweater is looking wonderful—great yarn and pretty knitting. 🙂 And I like the “the way my life really looks” shot, it’s such a beautiful peek into your world—although I’m sorry that your world currently includes sick kids, I hope they’re better ASAP. <3
Such a sweet morning image of your daugther- love her tossled hair. Off to check out the pattern
Happy Wednesday!
Sunshine on summer moss is exactly what that yarn makes me think of! The book looks very interesting as well.
I hope your little ones feel better soon!
I hope the kids feel better soon. That Beatrix is a real corker. I think she’s going to give you and your husband a run for your money. 😉
Yea, I finally have time to leave a comment! I love the color of your kitchen cabinets! We would like to paint ours, but we have to find the time…
Happy Hump Day. Thanks for sharing
Hope your babies are better soon. Have heard so much about that book. Must get my hands on a copy!
I love that February sweater, but haven’t any time to knit right now, so no link up for me. =( I am also read SS&S. It is so uplifting. I really don’t usually highlight my books, but I’m going to this one. Love the kitchen shot..I always like seeing the reality behind a blog.
Oh, sorry for the sick babes. What a beautiful color green. And I fall into reading too many books at once sometimes. It the nature of a lover of words. Hope you’re turning pages soon.
The sweater looks great…I can’t get over how fast some of the yarn alongers knit…and stick to a project. I love your daughter’s nightgown…so pretty.
I love both shots. And of course your short depth of field is a plus when ‘hiding’ the messy countertops 🙂 Actually – what is that large silver thing? A coffee urn? I’ve been looking for one.
Hope the kids feel better, and you’re able to get to those sleeves. But if you don’t,that’s okay. The sleeves can wait; the kids…well…
I hope the kids feel better!
Well that book looks very interesting! Love your february lady sweater and you’re right, it will probably be hot when it’s finished. I hope the kids get better soon and no one else catches it.
It looks really pretty, Ginny! My February Lady was run over by the stroller at the zoo on Fri, so it needs to be washed and I can’t wear it today in this chilly weather either. Ho hum. I actually started another sweater right after my FLS that needs to be finished. Maybe the cooler weather will inspire me!
I love it when I find a book that makes me want to mark it up. I hope your babes are better soon! The sweater looks lovely. Who knows, we may have some more cool days before us. 🙂
Your sweater is such a lovely colour. I look forward to seeing the finished article. hope your little ones are feeling better quickly.
Lovely colour! Hope everyone is feeling better soon.
Pete checked… No Starbucks between us , lots of McDonalds! I am cooking up a plan. To meet for a knit night…what a dream!
Lisa
Oh no, two sick little ones. I hope they are feeling well again soon.
The colour, the pattern, I agree, both lovely. The texture looks like it would also be lovely to touch.
Oh I hope Beatrix and Silas feel better soon…..gorgeous color for the sweater and I love Beatrix’s bright nightgown…
I love the colour and the pattern of your sweater Ginny. I do hope your little ones are better soon.
Warmly
Linda
Your sweater is really coming along quickly, I have been eyeing the pattern to cast one on myself.
I hope your babies are feeling much better and you can work on your sleeves and with the way the weather has been lately you may be able to wear your sweater in July! 🙂
Beautiful colour on your sweater! I read more than one book at the time 😉 Right now I think I have at least four I’m switching between.
Get well wishes to your little ones.
That green is just lovely – the pattern so pretty – maybe one day I will attempt something so detailed! xx Rach
