Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

Well, I have cast on Gabriel’s sweater four times now.  I think the fourth time I got it right.  I think I have obsessed over how I will knit his requested stripes a bit more than is “normal.”
I have called him over to look at sweaters on Ravelry repeatedly to get his opinion, just to have him say once more, “I really don’t care.  I just want stripes.”
“But Gabe, you have to have an opinion.  I need your opinion.”
“Okay mommy: I want stripes.”
“Thanks, Gabe.”

So I am knitting a simple top down raglan sweater (same pattern I used for both Seth’s and Keats‘ sweaters,) and I think I know what I am going to do now as far as striping goes.  With all the stopping and starting I haven’t gotten this one up on Ravelry yet, but I am using Beaverslide heavy fisherman weight wool in a variety of colors.  It is a nice sturdy wool, perfect for an active boy’s warm winter sweater.
As you can see from the picture, I haven’t gotten far.  But, surely I won’t have to start over again.
All that indecision has meant that I have been free to work on my pretty, lacy scarf though.  It’s such a nice knit.  If you haven’t tried knitting lace, this is a great place to start.  The rows are so short, there isn’t much room to mess up.

More exciting though than all the knitting is the book I picked up at the library last night.  It’s called Organizing Solutions for People with Attention Deficit Disorder and I’ve already ordered a copy to be sent to my mom as well because it’s so good, and so perfect for us (“Us” meaning:  Jonny and me and my mom and stepdad.)  I was worried that I wouldn’t even be able to stay focused on the book long enough for it to help me: especially right now when there are so many projects and things to do pulling me in all different directions. But, no worries there.  Amazingly, it really is written in a way that a person with issues in the attention span department can handle.  Now, if I can just get Jonny to read it too….

Below is a linky list if you’d like to link up and join the Yarn Along.  Don’t forget to link back to this post so that others can join us.  The Yarn Along is about sharing with each other!
(**And those of you posting crochet projects, don’t forget to add the word “crochet” next to your name to make yourself easier for other crocheters to find! )
