Busy and Warm

The laundry pile is calling me, as is my piano theory book which I have been neglecting, so just a few quick words tonight.

The weather was beautifully warm today, and with the exception of our time spent on lessons, my kids were outside until dark.

Beatrix is doing her best to keep up with the “big kids,” spending a good many hours outdoors as well.  She has also become aware of things such as clothing (already!?)  When she saw Larkspur putting on this striped dress she immediately started to fuss, clearly remembering that she has one as well.  As soon as I put hers on her, she was happy.  Maybe I need to sew some matching dresses… I never thought I would be the match my kids’ outfits type, but if the girls like it, well, I guess so.

I swear they are not both kicking at the chickens.  Okay, yes they were, but I made them stop right away.
(we don’t let the chickens out every day until after lunch believing that this helps them to remember to lay all their eggs in the nest boxes.)

And, a little diner food for you.  We are very healthy eaters, but I do like diner food every now and then.  However, if I want diner food I have to make it myself.  Making it myself does make it a little healthier (but it sure looks greasy in this photo!)  This is an omelet topped with bell peppers and red onion (sauteed in a bit of oil and sprinkled with fajita seasoning), followed by some salsa and sour cream.  The potatoes are roasted in the oven with some basic seasoning salt, and that’s it!  You can also add some diced avocado and some steak bites if you like.  And then you have a yummy diner meal.
