(I created this post about a year ago and forgot to post it, so I am sharing it today!)
Our parish has a Corpus Christi procession for the Feast of Corpus Christi each year. I sometimes photograph events for our parish, and thought you might like to see these photos too. Silas and Job both processed with the other altar servers, with Silas being thurifer (carrying the incense) at the beginning. Mabel had recently received her First Holy Communion so she wore her dress from the day. This was our family’s first time to participate in a procession and it was such a beautiful experience!
How lovely. Thank you for sharing these, Ginny!
We have these processions in Poland. The 1st Communicants from the previous May always walk in procession first behind the Eucharist and behind them are the younger girls and boys in the parish who are awaiting their 1st communion. The girls dress in traditional costume and throw flower petals and the boys dress in small albs and ring bells. We walk from altar to altar (usually 4) and sing psalms and stop at each one and hear a short scripture and reflection. Each day after, for 8 days, there are small processions around the church with flower throwing and bell ringing. Sometimes my kids do all eight days, sometimes just a couple (we live down the block from our church so they take themselves). It is one of the biggest most long awaited for feasts for the younger children. I love that more and more parishes in the U.S. are bringing back processions. Its so wonderful to see people of all ages walking with Jesus from the church out into the public.
Thank you for sharing these. Beautiful to see our faith shine forth to all.
