~Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me each month and share what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Post your photo(s) on your blog or on Instagram (#yarnalong) and then share a link below to either your blog or Instagram post!~ (This post contains affiliate links.)

I’ve been working to finish some of my wips over the last few weeks. Thinking that they are very “October,” I just pulled out this pair of socks that I started a long time ago. I am knitting them in scraps of worsted weight superwash yarn. They are kind of a mess and will have so many ends to weave in, but will be warm and cozy. I’m not reading much, but I’m supposed to be reading Things Fall Apart for my boys’ literature class. I haven’t made much progress, but need to get with it! I should be motivated by the fact that it matches my sock project.

Your socks look great I love the colors. Also good you are knitting both socks at the same time so you don’t face the second sock syndrome of feeling like you don’t want to start the next one I might try that next time. Hope you enjoy the book!
Oh my goodness! I love the colors in those socks! They scream Fall! I also love it when my knitting matches my book cover.
Hi Ginny,
I teach Year 12 secondary school English here in Australia – the equivalent of your final year of high school. Things fall apart has just been added to the list of approved texts for Year 12 English here in Victoria for 2020. This means that many schools will opt to teach it and students will be examined in it. Along with this comes the publication of loads of resources and study guides to support students and teachers. You should be able to find them in the internet but Insight Publications here in Victoria write and create them for schools to use. Good luck!
I’ve been wanting to read Things Fall Apart for so long! I would love to know what you think of it… Also the color combination with the socks is probably my favorite color combo ever- it’s so beautifully autumnal and makes me think of rainy days.
“matches my sock project” –oh you make me smile!
Oh are you following a pattern? I would love to turn my worsted scraps into socks!
those socks look extra squishy!! Lovely 🙂
Gosh, I love those colors for the socks!
I had to read this in Brit Lit 2…..but it was the end of the semester so we didn’t really talk a lot about it. I should probably re-read it!
Love how the colors match the book cover! Things Fall Apart was a challenge for me the first time I read it, but the second time I got a lot out of it. Happy October!
