Hello! Welcome to the first Yarn Along of 2019!
Most of my knitting time last month was spent working on the little doll shoes and cardigan from my last post, but I also worked on the green baby alpaca shawl I started at the beginning of December. I’m enjoying the simple pattern and the way it is knitting up.
I’m reading The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, a gift from my sister. Like so many of us, I’ve seen The Sound of Music more times than I can count, and I am really enjoying reading the true story that inspired it.

Interested to know what the book is like, I’ve heard that there’s little relation of real life to the film; that there’s no evidence Maria was ever a nun, she was not a warm person person, especially towards children and it was her husband who was a real softy. I wonder what you’ll make of it.
My Austrian friend gave this book to me and I enjoyed it very much.
I’ve just reserved the book from the library!
It’s good to be back in 2019 and part of Yarn Along. xx
I too have seen that movie many times, but never read the book. I will add it to my list. I read a book over Christmas that was so wonderful. IT is an older book by T. Davis Bunn called Tidings of Comfort and Joy. A small book but a great read. So touching!
Loading InLinkz ..then a little box with an ex and no links of others or chance to link…
swapped computers and find this… any suggestions appreciated
Are you still having trouble?
I have read it a couple of times – maybe another round is in order. Enjoy!
Sixteen years ago, my son and daughter-in-law were married on the grounds of the Trapp Family Home (now a hotel) in Stowe, VT. It’s a gorgeous setting, After that I read the book and anything else I could find on that incredible family.
I love your shawl…I aspire to reach that point in my knitting journey.
I adore Maria Von Trapp! I have this one as a kindle read, I think….I’ll have to double check!
the link isn’t loaded … is it just me?
Were you ever able to get it to load?
Oh, I read that several years ago (I think I might want to re-read really), quite interesting.
I read that book as a teen! Fantastic read and I should re read it. Lovely knitting — happy new year!!!
I love Maria Von Trapp’s books! Her, “Around the Year with the Von Trapp Family” is one of my favorite resources for celebrating the Church Year!
Interesting book!
