~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us!~

I’ve finished a couple of hats since last week, and now I am between hats (still have a couple to go) so I am working on my goldenrod green shawl. It’s getting closer and closer to being finished. I think I am really going to love this one!
I am about halfway through reading Lila. Is it just me, or is it kind of depressing? I can’t decide whether I really like it or not. There are definitely sweet aspects to the story…I just don’t know.
I have been cooking from the Wellness Mama cookbook (that I mentioned last Wednesday) all week and I am really, really pleased with it. I have liked all the recipes I have tried. I don’t buy many cookbooks, but this one was definitely a good investment.

I cannot do sad or depressing books right now. Years of working in the sad NICU has me alway searching for lighter or non fiction . I know so many great reader friends who love a drama and it is fine with them if it is sad. It makes it more powerful for them, but I just cant.
LOVE your shawl color . It would work with so many things in my wardrobe….

I’m halfway through Lila too! After reading your yarn along last week where you mentioned if you weren’t sure you would carry on with it, I wasn’t sure if I should put it down and carry on with another book. Your completely right it is depressing, but I’m hoping to finish it….well maybe I’m hoping it will just end more positively….

I loved Gilead, but yes, Lila is gloomy and despressing! 🙁

I loved Robinson’s other books enough to underline, take notes, and reread. But I have started Lila 3 times, months apart, getting a little further each time and always giving up again. Let us know if you think it’s worth it in the end!

Yeah, I didn’t really like Lila, for those reasons. I liked Gilead the best, and Home second. But Lila felt….I don’t know. Disconnected? I don’t really mind depressing books (what does that say about me? 🙂 ), but I felt this one didn’t jive as well with the other two.
