Sarah Mabel Elizabeth was born on Monday via a scheduled c-section.  She weighed 8 lbs 1 oz, and everything went well according to my doctor and nurses.  We are home resting now.  I have so much to share in the coming weeks: the significance of her name (she will go by Mabel, or “Mae”), my reasons for choosing the birth that I did for her, and what that was like for me.

My dear friend Lori visited us at the hospital just a couple of hours after Mabel was born and captured the photos of those early moments that I am sharing here.

I will be laying low for a little while, but hope to be back here very soon.  Thank you for being here, for your prayers and words of encouragment, and for sharing our joy with us.  This little one is the sweetest gift.

Congratulations! Prayers for a restful recovery. My first was an unplanned c-section last September. It was not what I had in mind for my first birth but it was absolutely the best thing for him.

Congratulations! And HEY you stole our girl’s name! 🙂
We are pregnant (from China) and will be bringing her home in August.

    Her name is:

Mabel Ann Sula (her name now) Purpose (and our last name).

And I chose a C section with my last biological child because of birth issues. I had a wonderful birth and a wonderful recovery. I hope you are eating lots of probiotics and enjoying your sweet girl!

    Best,
    Kim in MA

Tarah, our last baby also had severe shoulder dystocia and that is why I chose C-section this time. It was a difficult choice to make and the surgery was scary for me. Just so different on many levels than my previous birth experiences. But the fear I felt was a different sort of fear and nothing like the terror I experienced when Job was stuck. I feel confident that c-section was the right choice for me this time, and I have no regrets whatsoever. You will do great! I’ll try to share more here about my experience in the next week or two.

Dear both I had a c section after the death of my third baby. Number four was c section. Just rest afterwards is the big key. Do not carry on. Take to your bed and then take it very easy. The dust can look after itself. And whatever help comes your way. Just say thank you.
