Sarah Mabel Elizabeth was born on Monday via a scheduled c-section.  She weighed 8 lbs 1 oz, and everything went well according to my doctor and nurses.  We are home resting now.  I have so much to share in the coming weeks: the significance of her name (she will go by Mabel, or “Mae”), my reasons for choosing the birth that I did for her, and what that was like for me.

My dear friend Lori visited us at the hospital just a couple of hours after Mabel was born and captured the photos of those early moments that I am sharing here.

I will be laying low for a little while, but hope to be back here very soon.  Thank you for being here, for your prayers and words of encouragment, and for sharing our joy with us.  This little one is the sweetest gift.

First, she’s beautiful! Second, I’m a little excited about that name! My name is Sarah Elizabeth, and I have an 8 year old daughter named Mabel Jane. I also have an 11 year old boy named Silas. 🙂 Old names rock. So glad everyone’s happy and healthy!

…and Ginny, if you need me to come barricade the door so the nurses can't poke you all night, I'm ON IT.

Congratulations! She is lovely and Mae is a wonderful name…Mabel reminds me of a little rhyme that we say at the snack table in my nursery (waldorf) class: Mabel, Mabel strong and able, get your elbows off the table. Pardon the rhyme but my wish is that she is going to be strong and able too, a good living testament to your friends Sarah and Elizabeth.

Oh congratulations! Having children is such a joy! Enjoy your new one. I think the first weeks when it seems you never get enough sleep are so precious too! Every stage is a joy I never thought I’d go through- I had my three children after 11 years of trying and everything was just awesome because I could never let go of the fact that without God they would never of been. I had a disease that most people will not be able to have children, but through years of prayer I did. Treasure them, my oldest just graduated from college!

    WOOOHOOOO! NEW BABBEH!

Also, no shame in a schedule c-section. Both of mine were scheduled…..although the second one decided to come 2 weeks before his scheduled eviction (and he’s been doing everything faster ever since – little booger!).

You have a house full of children. Take all the time you need. We’ll still be here when you come back 🙂
