Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us!~

Yarn Along-2615

I finished reading The Snake Pit last week, and decided to take a break before reading the final two books in the Master of Hestviken series.  A friend sent me a link to an article about Beverly Cleary turning 100, and it mentioned that the book on her nightstand at the time she was interviewed was Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight.  I figured that if she’s reading it, I might like it too.  I am about halfway through and can say that it is a fascinating look at the author’s childhood, but as many childhood memoirs are, it’s heartbreaking as well.

I finished my first wildflower sock, and cast on the next, but then took a break to knit a pair of rainbow prayer socks for a friend’s daughter, in the tradition of my friend, Elizabeth.  I finished them last night, and they are really cute!  Details are in my Ravelry notes.

Tracey has baby shower details on her blog this week!  She is kindly hosting an online baby shower for me during next Wednesday’s Yarn Along.  Thank you!

Love those socks! Oh my so cute! I find myself intrigued by the book you are reading. I read The Poisonwood Bible and although it is probably quite different it has me recalling it. Congrats by the way on another baby to come!

Darling yarn for your socks!! They are so fun.
I am rereading My Antonia because of how you enjoy Willa Cather. I am already enjoying it much more than I did when I read it as assigned reading as young adult but I fear it will have a lot of heartbreak in it so next month may find me reading only happy lightness… It feels oh-so-heavy and deliberate to me, even just 70 pages in…but the writing is just beautiful.

I’ve been wanting to read that book–I need to add it to my list.

I read that book years ago! Fascinating! I randomly picked it up on vacation in the British Virgin Islands on a free books bookshelf. Couldn’t put it down. Funny seeing it mentioned all these years later.

I enjoyed “Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs…” and the two other memoirs by Alexandra Fuller. Love the color of your socks!

Thank you for hosting the yarn along. The socks are lovely. Who wouldn’t like rainbows on their feet?
