Hello everyone! I’ve had the chance to connect to so many wonderful people through Ginny’s blog over the years, it’s always so nice to have this opportunity to say hello and share some of my work with you! (Thank you Ginny!)
I am Stephinie, the creative spirit behind Gypsy Forest. I currently live in Massachusetts with my husband and four children. We have a small homestead with bees, chickens and a big garden. My days are full with house chores, homeschooling, creating items for my shop, teaching an art class for young girls and studying herbalism. I just graduated last weekend from a 7 month long intensive apprenticeship program! I occasionally find time to write about all this on my blog.
I’ve been dyeing play silks for almost 4 years now and last year I started making beautifully dyed silk & flannel blankets. Currently they are available in two sizes :: 41×41 inches for a nice child’s sized blanket and 12×12 for a small “lovey” size for toddlers. These silk blankets are sewn with a nice heavyweight silk (19mm) that holds dye very vibrantly. The blankets are also more durable made with this thicker silk. I sew these up with fair trade organic cotton flannel because I really believe in supporting ethical practices on a global scale. Lots of little good choices lead to big change, right? I like to think so. I also offer custom colors, larger sizes and extra flannel for customers who want to design their own blanket. (Ginny here for a quick comment: Stephinie gave me one of her silk/flannel blankets just before Job’s birth, and it is my absolute favorite still. In the summer I cover him with the cool to the touch silk, and in the winter, the flannel. It’s such a gorgeous, luxurious blanket and has held up to lots of washing!)
I’ve been studying herbalism full time for over a year now and some of our family’s favorite products are making their way into the shop. I have a few tea blends and a really wonderful good-for-everything salve. My handcrafted herbal goods are made with organic ingredients in small batches. The salve is gentle for skin of all ages and we carry it with us wherever we go for bumps, scrapes, bug bites, and itchy skin. It smells incredible too.
There are some sewn items from time to time in the shop along with my nature photography. I have a few special holiday items in the works for this year that will be released around the first of December, so do come back to take a peek!
If any of you are in the south coast area of Massachusetts, we’ll be at a wonderful Faire today in Cotuit, MA at the Waldorf School of Cape Cod. We’d love to see you! You can also find me on Instagram, Facebook, and my blog!
This giveaway has two winners! One winner will receive an herbal sampler containing two teas of their choice, a tea strainer, and a tin of our Super Salve. Another winner will receive a set of six 21×21 play silks in rainbow hues. Let Ginny know in the comments which you would like to win.
I would love to offer you all a coupon code for 10% off your order through the end of the month – use the code SMALL10 at checkout.
Also ALL orders over $50 will receive a free travel sized tin of our amazing Super Salve!

Didn’t know you were making teas now – delicious! I have one of your green play silks that’s I ordered a few years ago to use as the “grass” in my son’s Easter basket (and of course to play with after.) it’s one of our favorites! He dances with it all the time, makes it into a blanket for his animals and when he was littler, would use it for peekaboo. So lovely!
