Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

Yarn Along-1436

I’m almost finished reading Never Cry Wolf.  I find it hard to put it down every night before bed.  It’s fascinating!

I did cast on a new shawl last week, but I have also been knitting away on my Barn Sweater.  Mostly though, I’m cleaning house, filling in my calendar and schedule, and planning meals.  If I can get all the structure in place now, I’ll have more time to knit later!  (That’s what I tell myself.)

I loved “Never Cry Wolf”. I could not stop laughing at the part where he was running naked after the wolves. My older sons liked it as well.

Your Barn Sweater is going to be fabulous!

I love the colour for your sweater. I can’t wear any yellows whatsoever as they make me look very ill, but I imagine it would be a joy to work with that yarn. Maybe I can make some mittens!

    Cooperstown, NY?
If so I have always wanted to go to the museum there! Gives me an idea! 🙂

Never Cry Wolf is a fantastic book. I read it years ago in college while I was getting my Wildlife Biology degree. Thanks for the memory 🙂

I’m having fun with my first Yarn Along, Ginny!
Oh that kitty. I want to scoop him up and kiss him! The matching fiber is delightful. I need a cat.

Ginny – Did you recommend the book, Safekeeping by Jessamyn Hope. The book was so good and very hard to put down. I think you did recommend it but I can’t find it in your posts, but thanks if you did. Also, another good one to read is The Boston Woman by Anita Diamant. She wrote The Rent Tent.

I really like the colour you’re using here. Alas it is not a colour that’s good for me.
I can see that Yarn Along is going to see my to-read pile reach epic proportions! I’ve finished my Monkey Moo from last week (you can see him finished on today’s post) but am still deciding what to knit next… possibly a cactus!

Ah. Kitty. I love your photo. Is it weird that hubby is completely anti cat (we have one that comes over from the neighbors to nab out feeder birds) and yet I keep praying God will send an irresistible stray? Don’t I have bigger things to pray for than that!?! Good luck with the planning/organizing. Will look forward to next week.

How do you plan for month ahead? I always find that daily schedules and changes make it nearly impossible to plan. Hum….I would like to be more organized but, I suppose, hate to be boxed in.

I will share soon! I am coming up with a flexible plan. If I don’t have some sort of plan to fall back on, we won’t eat! I am just not one of those fantastic spontaneous cooks!

I would love to see what you do. I am more the kind of person who says…hum….I only have an hour, husband has to go out at a certain time, low on groceries, what should I make….then I look in the frig and start combining. Last night we ended up with zucchini latkes, tomatoes and brown rice. The latkes were somewhat soggy but good. Hope I can perfect them before zucchinis disappear!
I guess really what I do is buy ingredients for meals and then figure out what combination will make a meal.
        have a wonderful day.
        Thanks so much for responding.

My friend Eve is like that! She can make delicious food from almost nothing! I really envy that kind of talent. I definitely don’t have it. 🙁

Well, I suppose there are qualities of both approaches that have merit. I always feel that I am living on the edge food wise and might find it more relaxing IF I knew what I was going to prepare before 3 PM! I really do try to occasionally follow a recipe and it is really hard for me to do. Actually, almost impossible except for baking which is a whole other story. I am a good cook but only a ok baker. In any case, it must be hard to organize meals for all the children and their different ages and schedules. I suppose a pot of soup on the back of the stove is a good idea, or food prepared ahead of time such as burritos.
            Good luck and enjoy!!!!

I decided yesterday that I was tired of cleaning house, that seems to be all I do lately, so I sat and knit….it was wonderful.

I do think the yarn you are using for your barn sweater is so pretty. After I cast of the wee cardigan for Porter I think I will cast own my own sweater.
