Winterwoods Tea Company {giveaway}

Winterwoods Tea Company-1856Today’s giveaway is from Winterwoods Tea Company!  I am a fan of this family run company, especially having given up coffee a few months ago (yes, I did it!) because I found that it was triggering anxiety for me.  Hot tea has become my comfort beverage, and I have finally reached a place where I don’t miss my morning cup of coffee.  Instead, I start each day with a cup of Earl Grey, or as of late, Inland Grey, Winterwoods Tea Company’s own Earl Grey blend which Tirza of Winterwoods kindly sent me to try.  It has become my absolute favorite of all the Earl Grey blends I have tried.  Tirza is here today to share a little about her growing small business and current Kickstarter campaign.  She has some great incentives for backers and even an extra incentive just for Small Things readers.  And of course she’s giving away some of her amazing tea as well.

Winterwoods Tea Company was founded in 2013 around a woodstove in our cozy, country home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. As a former publicist and business consultant (Small Things sponsor Stubby Pencil Studio used to be a client of mine years ago!), I was looking for a way to work with my hands in a creative, inspired way that also allowed me to use my business background and involve my five children in my work. Passionate about herbs and natural health and a love for tea inspired my decision to start a tea company that focuses on using local, organic ingredients to create beautiful loose leaf tea blends that are free from pesticides and artificial flavors. We believe that tea should be healing and nourishing and that’s why you’ll never find synthetic ingredients, preservatives, sweeteners or additives in our teas. Working together with my husband and two older daughters, Winterwoods Tea Company is a family business and a creative passion.

People quickly fell in love with our farm-to-tea-cup blends and we realized that the market for loose leaf tea with organic ingredients is huge. We are the first company of our kind to create tisanes and other blends made with local farm fresh ingredients, and we blend all our tea in small batches to ensure it’s freshness. All our tea has been blended within 30 days of shipping to customers and has a shelf life of 12 months once opened. We’re passionate about supporting local agriculture and building community through tea. We hand mix all our original blends in the heart of the Inland Pacific Northwest and Spokane’s farm country, on beautiful GreenBluff. We currently sell online and at local farmers markets, coffee, grocery and retail gift stores throughout the West Coast.

We’re currently running a Kickstarter campaign to fund the building of our own commercial kitchen so that we can keep up with demand and allow our business to grow. We were selected a Kickstarter Top Picks in the food category which gave us amazing exposure and allowed us to reach almost 200% of our funding goal. We have currently have raised almost $25,000 which will allow us to upgrade our tea processing and packaging equipment as well as build a commercial kitchen. We hope to also make this kitchen available for other women owned small businesses who are starting food-related companies. Our Kickstarter ends on Sunday, September 13 at 10:45 pm PST and we are offering some of our best deals and rewards for those who choose to support our company and pledge on our campaign through Kickstarter.

    Coffee does the same thing to me but I can’t manage to give it up. I usually to it as penance during lent and always feel better but just can’t wait for easter and that hot cuppa. Maybe some yummy tea would help.

    I love tea. I just “unearthed” my English Nanny’s tea pot – that’s what we call grandmas – she was born and raised English – and then raised me! So, tea and biscuits every day.

    Now I am stuck with coffee. I am wanting to start green or black teas each am … What to do about the headaches? Prayer and I got a Plant Therapy oil. Kid safe. Great company.

    We are big tea drinkers in our home. Up until about a year ago, we drank from my husband’s grandmother’s teapot brought over from the Isle of Mann. We finally retired it because of a couple of cracks. But nevertheless, the whole family still enjoys a cup together every morning.
    These teas sound amazing! What a wonderful giveaway. 🙂
