I was up very early this morning knitting, and then pouring over recipes and making a shopping list. Today I am going to bake a bunch of pies for a get together with my homeschooling co op. I’ll be following recipes from Cooking from Quilt Country
Before today I don’t think I’d ever actually made any of the recipes from The Tasha Tudor Cookbook
I cast on for a Claret Cowl last night in the prettiest shades of green (Malabrigo Arroyo in fresco y seco). I’ve knit this pattern before, and it goes quickly (especially if I can’t sleep and end up knitting in the wee hours of the morning!)

Yes! Green, gray, and brown. This cowl is for my sister though I might have to knit one for myself too. The green is sooo pretty!

I used to watch Marcia Adams on PBS when I lived at home. I loved her show, and found her cookbook at a garage sale 🙂

I love Cooking from Quilt Country. I use a lot of the recipes. The color of that yarn for your cowl is beautiful.
The Tasha Tudor fruitcake is very good, I think she calls it Dundee cake. If you like fruitcake….which I do and my eldest does too. Just want to thank you for continuing to,post during these busy times for a mother. Your blog is a very bright spot in my day. It must be a great effort to keep up the blog and I hope you just know that it is really appreciated.

Pretty greens! I’ve never knit a cowl before and lately have been looking at various cowl patterns. This one is being added to my list of things to knit.
I love my Tasha Tudor cook book. It’s one of my cook books that I read just for fun. Even if I’m not cooking anything.
Beautiful, beautiful green. Malabrigo has such stunning colorways. I’d love to hear how your gingerbread turns out. Years ago, we used to check out “Take Joy: A Tasha Tudor Christmas” on VHS from the library every December. The girls and I loved her Christmas traditions – unfortunately we can no longer find a copy anywhere. I will have to get her cookbook and try some of her recipes.

Living in VT, I am a bit partial to Tasha Tudor. When my oldest daughter was young, she used to say that she wanted to BE Tasha Tudor. She and her sister played “Tasha Tudor” by the hour. I had no idea she had a cookbook! Thank you for sharing.

Two of my favorite cookbooks – mine look pretty tattered and worn though. The yarn is just beautiful!
I’ve had to buy a second copy of Cooking from Quilt Country for the same reason! I am really hard on cookbooks–at least the ones I love.
Knitting in the early morn is one of my favorite pleasures. I try to do so several times a week, but my youngest seems to instinctively know the moment mama is awake & will wake up, too, stumbling around before sunrise, crying but refusing to go back down. I should probably just teach her to finger-knit. I hope the pie-making venture goes off without a hitch!
I really want to switch my schedule around so that I am up early instead of up late. Early morning really is the best.
