Wooly Moss Roots {giveaway}

4-buttonsgalore

It’s been awhile since Jeff and Taryn of Wooly Moss Roots had a giveaway here, and I am so glad to have them this weekend!  I love them and the work they do.  Taryn is going to share a little about her family and shop for those of you who might not be familiar with them, and a little about the newest items in their shop!  Be sure to follow along at Taryn’s Blog, and “like”  Wooly Moss Roots on Facebook.

1-familyHello! We are The Wilson Family- Taryn, Jeff and Bracken. We live on a small homestead along the Oregon coast range. When we’re not making things (which we usually are), we love to be in the garden. We’re thankful to be back here in Ginny’s space today, sharing some of the new things in our shop with you.

4-herbalsThe main focus in our shop these days is buttons (we’re crazy about buttons), but we also have pure, filtered beeswax (for your candle making, salve making, and more), herbal salves, solid perfumes, natural body care, and more.

In addition to our handmade wooden buttons, we are now offering fabric buttons. We are so excited about these! They add a fun and colorful touch to handmade projects and are now the most affordable button we offer (at only $1 per button!)

We are also happy to now be offering handmade wooden shawl pins. Jeff started making them after we had quite a few customer requests. They really do add a beautiful touch to a handknit shawl and we’ve discovered that they can also be worn in the hair.

I love to see the projects that people have been posting in our group on Ravelry with Wooly Moss Roots wooden buttons, toggle buttons, fabric buttons, and shawl pins. We welcome you to check them out -we’re now up to 97 projects there- and we’d love to have you join! When I pour my energy into knitting something special, I love to finish my projects with special buttons. The love that Jeff pours into each button really does add some magic to creative projects, I think. (If you would like to see a behind the scenes look at what goes into making our handmade wooden buttons, you can see a bit of the process here.) Seeing what knitters, sewers, and crafters make with them is so much fun for us.

We’ve been enjoying working with a few knitwear designers. There are currently three knitting patterns on Ravelry featuring our buttons: Sunday Sweater by Ginny, Brambles Bear by Amanda Keeys, and Martinmas Sweater by Katherine Johnson. If you are a knitwear designer and would like to use our buttons for your pattern, please contact us.

Thanks for having us here, Ginny, and Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there!

1-pin
Jeff and Taryn would like to give one winner the handmade wooden shawl pin (pictured above) in reclaimed lignum vitae wood. There are two different colors in the wood- yellow and brown with a greenish tinge. It measures a little over 2 inches wide.  Tthe winner will also receive 6 fabric buttons of choice and a $35 gift certificate to their shop!

In addition, use the coupon code: MOTHERLOVE and get 15% off, with a minimum purchase of $10, in our Wooly Moss Roots shop and our Mystic Orb shop. Good through May 14th.

For your chance to win, leave a comment on this post.  Comments are closed and the winner is Kate who commented, “LOVE their buttons.   Have used them on a couple of projects.  Grateful for the chance to win that lovely shawl pin and more goodies.  Thank you.”

Thanks, Jeff and Taryn!

    I’ve always wanted to knit a simple shawl but there has always been something else to do. With the pin closure I WILL knit it – just to showcase the beautiful work done on this closure.

    Also am just getting into sewing clothes for my 5 yr old granddaughter and so the buttons would really come in handy! As would the gift certificate as I’d love to try the bug repellent and bees wax.

    So much to take in, so many decisions if I do win, so many choices in how to use the 15% discount if I don’t.

    Thank you all for your generosity!
