The Sitting Tree {giveaway}

Today’s giveaway is from Liz and Mike of The Sitting Tree.  The Sitting Tree offers upcycled longies, wool dryer balls, knitting patterns, hand knits, hand dyed yarn, homemade soap, wood buttons and tree branch ornaments.  You can find Liz at her lovely blog, and also on Facebook.

6-Temp2“We are Liz and Mike, a pair of soon to be off grid homesteaders, living in the northwoods of Wisconsin.  We share our life with a trio of wildly creative and beautiful unschooled boys, an English Setter called Bailey, and a reclusive black cat who wandered into the house a few years ago and never left.”

5-DSC_1423“Our business began under an apple tree. I spent one whole summer teaching myself to knit, watching my kids tend their plots in the garden, counting stars, identifying plants, insects and animals, and wondering how I could combine all the bounties of nature into every aspect of our life, including work.  I began selling custom hand knit clothing, then moved onto pattern design and dyeing fiber. Customers kept asking for hand knits, but I didn’t have the time to put into custom work. Instead, I started working with thrifted wool sweaters, and fell in love with repurposing clothing and accessories!”

“Recently, my husband joined me in crafting hand made soaps and working with recycled wood. As our family changes and grows, so do our products. You never know what may end up in the shop!”

1-DSC_0112“Our business is an extension of our daily lives. Each product in our shop is used every day in our home, and the process of creating is integrated into living, learning, and work. Most days, it’s hard to tell where one
ends and the other begins.”

    WOW – what a great and generous giveaway. I am so thrilled to be in the “drawing” for this gift. After reading what Liz said about teaching herself to knit under the apple tree, and seeing what is available from their shop, I am truly amazed by this young couple (I can say “young” because I’m “old” – but happy being a little old lady Gramma). The knitted Easter eggs are brilliant and that friendship bracelet is perfect – that little tote is just right for carrying rocks and pine cones and earth-bound feathers – can’t wait to check out their whole store. Love the 10% off of shopping – will spend Sunday afternoon figuring out what is needed by a little 4 yr old.
