Admitting that you are burned out can be hard, but many of us face it, some of us on a yearly basis (or more). For me, burn out usually happens late February or early March (hey, that’s right now!) and then revisits in the late fall. So what do you do with that? I typically just put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward as best I can, although I often find myself crying in the bathroom until it passes. My friend Elizabeth Foss has battled burnout as well, and she has created a workshop to help those of us who are suffering, recover joy. I know it’s going to be good, because I’ve spent many an hour in discussion with Elizabeth. As my friend, she has held my hand through some of my hardest times. She’s one of those friends who always seems to know the right thing to say. Her words have turned my panic into peace on more than one occasion. It’s no small gift that Elizabeth has poured herself and her wisdom, the kind that has grown through life experience, into this workshop.
“The Restore Workshop is a six week online course geared towards adult women who have struggled or are struggling with or want to avoid burnout. It is for any woman who wants to nurture joy within her life and the lives of those around her.”
The workshop begins on March 16th and runs through April 26th. You can find more information on the Restore website. Elizabeth answers questions here. You can register here. If you look closely at the image above, you’ll see my name listed under the Monday podcast portion. Elizabeth and I will be discussing creativity and the use of this part of ourselves in battling burnout. This is a topic she and I have discussed many times, but I’ll admit, I’m pretty nervous about recording our conversation. I hope that by doing so, we’ll encourage others though, so I am going to give it my best.
Elizabeth is offering one Small Things reader a space in the workshop. If you are interested in winning, just mention so in your comment. Comments are closed and the winner is JennyAnn who commented,”What perfect timing this is. Thank you for this!!”

Burnout is a topic I could certainly use some insight on! Thank you for the opportunity to be included in a spot in the course. Good luck with your podcast, I am sure you will bring peace and light to many women in need of it!
Thank you for the opportunity! This has been a long, tough year for us. There has been no time to grieve and rest. Only running on a few cylinders here. I have been reading about this workshop. It looks fantastic.
This would be a blessing for me right now!
What perfect timing this is. Thank you for this!!
I could use some restoration!
This is fantastic. I think more women need such things than they know themselves.
I’d love to win, on the other hand I’m not sure if I’d better not take leave the chance to someone else who probably needs it even more!?
Thank you all.
Burnout always hits me at the tail end of winter too. This sounds like a great workshop, I’d love to win a spot!
I would love to participate in the workshop. Thank you for a chance to win!
I am feeling in need of a restore workshop! Burn out hit a few weeks ago!
Thank you, Ginny and Elizabeth! Looks wonderful. I don’t know Elizabeth personally, but her writing has turned my panic into peace many times as well. She has a special gift. 🙂 Thanks for this opportunity to win!
I might like to be included. Thank you!
I’d love to win a spot in this workshop! Definitely needed! Thanks!
I would love to win a spot in this workshop! Between the exceptionally cold weather we’ve been having this year and some other difficult issues that have occurred in my family over the past few months, I’m feeling especially burnt out. I really feel I could benefit from the workshop. And thank you for your blog! I’ve been reading it for awhile but have never commented. It is really a source of inspiration!
It would mean so much to me to win a spot! Thanks for the opportunity!
… feeling just a bit burned out. Baby nine at the end of January, oldest is weeks away from her driver’s license, and WHERE?! is spring?!
I’d LOVE a spot in the workshop.
This sounds like such a much needed blessing for women. Thank you for telling us about it it. I would love to take this!
I’ve been suffering from burnout as well. I would love to win a spot!
I would love to get a spot I have 2 in homeschool a toddler and a newborn. Our life has been a little crazy and overwhelming at times. Thanks so much for the opportunity
I would love to win a spot! This has been an exceptionally difficult winter for me and could really use some fresh inspiration and joy.
That sounds wonderful. Mid to late February is usually the worst time for me. But since this is the winter that never wants to end I’m afraid that burnout feeling will stretch longer. I went for a walk one day last week because the sun was shining and I just had to get out. Then I ended up with chills and in bed early because the frigid temps just got to me straight to my core and wouldn’t go away! I’d love to do this workshop!
Great idea and perfect timing! I could use a little Restore in my life.
Oh, I’d love the chance to win a spot!
Thank you so much for this very special giveaway. I’d love to win a spot in the course! xoxo Tasneem
I would love to take this workshop!
I would love to be part of this! Thank you for the chance to win a spot.
I think I’d really benefit from this workshop. Thank you for offering it, for encouraging your friend, and for being willing to contribute to the course, too. You inspire me to step out of my comfort zone, too.
thanks so much elizabeth and ginny for this opportunity! i live on a farm in brasil with three little ones (5, 2 and 7 months) and in general feeling lonely and exhausted. ginny, you have kept me afloat on more than one occasion lately and i am eternally grateful for that. i often look at everything you juggle (with apparent grace!) and realize that maybe my plate isn´t so full afterall. thanks for this special offer ladies. it looks like a good one!
With having both R.A. and Fibro…4 kids and a husband who works shifts…this workshop would be a God-send! I wish that I could afford to attend myself …AND purchase space for friends who could also be greatly blessed by it!
What a wonderful opportunity! Thank you!
I would love a chance to win a spot to these workshops!
Oh, goodness, I am so in need of this! The topics and podcasts look amazing. Someone (me! me!) is going to be very lucky to win this spot!
I’d love this – I’m a full time working mom and need all the restoration I can get!
Homeschooling is never more difficult than in the months of February and March! Sign me up.
I am showing a friend about this — what a great idea. I’ve had many conversations about how hard it is to parent this time of year in particular. In fact, this weekend I reflected a great deal on how to change things up in our rhythm to accommodate the annual “bleck.” Good for you on this adventure!
Hi Ginny, you have been very much on my thoughts this morning, so I was going to comment anyway, whatever the topic. However I need, before I forget, to say that I am seriously interested in the workshop, and for once, as it’s an online prize, I am not worried about not qualifying “because shipping a prize to London might not be possible.”
So here I go.
I wanted to tell you that what you do, share, on your blog, apart from the pleasure of reading and looking at your pictures, has an impact. A good one. It is an inspiration, in all sorts of everyday little ways.
This morning, I cycled 13 km, but I had forgotten my gloves, so I stopped to buy some fingerless mittens I had wanted for a while anyway.
I was going for my usual multicoloured choice of pattern and then my eyes fell upon a lovely dark green pair. They were exactly the same shade as something like this you knitted a while back, and that was it. Added to the fact that I have been trying to simplify lately and going for earthy, calming colours seem to be helping. You mentionned that too.
I researched Lent calendars too. You did that to me, too.
Simplifying in the smallest things, everyday, works too. I don’t know if I what I am going through could be called a burnout, but simplifying seems to help. Remembering that the mess and the growing up and the never ending demands are what we signed for does not always help. Reading you helps.
Desperately need to attend this workshop but have agonized over the cost a bit.
I know I need it, though. Would be wonderful to win the opportunity.
Thank you!
I have struggles with various degrees of burnout in the past 14 years of homeschooling. I would love a chance to win a spot for the workshop, it sound great!
thank you for sharing all your ups and downs, it is always nice to know I am not the only one trying to homeschool multiple children and battle burnout, depression and anxiety.
God bless you
Karen

I would love to participate in the workshop! The end of winter is always hard for me, and today March 3rd, it is -9 where I live. Thanks for the encouragement – it is appreciated.
Currently in the middle of a move from Pittsburgh to Cincinnati with two teens in tow, trying hard not to burnout, at least until June when our family is reunited.
I would love to participate in the workshop. Thank you for the chance to win!
I feel like I struggle with this on a weekly basis – life is just so busy. I would love to be included.
