The sweater that I get asked about most often is, hands down, Joanna Johnson’s Phoebe’s Sweater. It’s the red hooded sweater that you often see being worn by my girls. I have knit it not once, but three times. Beatrix having outgrown the first one I knit for her, is now wearing Larkspur’s original red one. I knit a new one for Larkspur last fall, as she couldn’t bear to be without one of her own. Joanna has designed so many wonderful knitting patterns, and she is joining me here today to share a little about her latest collection, Green Gables Knits, and to offer a copy to one of you.
Joanna and Eric Johnson, the creative team behind knitting storybooks Phoebe’s Sweater, Freddie’s Blanket, and Phoebe’s Birthday, have created a fourth knitting book this year. Although it isn’t an illustrated storybook, it still fits well within the crossover genre of knitting and children’s literature. Green Gables Knits is a knitting pattern collection inspired by the beloved story, Anne of Green Gables. It contains eight knitting patterns for garments and accessories: men, women, teens, along with a home dec item or two. The Johnsons collaborated with The Heirs of L.M. Montgomery, Inc. on this project, which allowed them to print 10 archival photographs from Lucy Maud Montgomery’s personal photo collection to go along with the quote and the knitting patterns inspired by the story.
If you would like to win a copy of Green Gables Knits, simply leave a comment on this post. I will close comments and randomly select a winner on Friday, January 24th. The winner will be notified via email and announced within this post.
Comments are closed, and the winner is Eileen, who commented, “I have been on Joanna’s etsy store so many times wanting to buy her books! This one in particular along with Phoebe’s sweater calls to me. How exciting of a give away!”
Joanna can be found around the web at the Slate Falls Press website, her Etsy shop, on Ravelry, Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest!

Your girls must truly love their sweaters! Nice to have your knitting so appreciated. I’d love to knit the shawl, or perhaps the green sweater.

I’m in love with this book and have been wanting my own copy since it was released. What a great giveaway! You will have made me one happy Kindred Spirit should I win this. Slate Falls has some amazing books and I have all of their other ones.
Your children’s sweaters are always lovely. My daughter who is nearly 40 has always loved Anne of Green Gables and would love a copy of the gorgeous book-it will be me knitting though but fortunately I love knitting.
Kind wishes
Wendy

Yes please. What I really want is a red riding hood sweater in adult size. Wouldn’t that be fun!
Oh my goodness. I have this saved in my Ravelry library but have not bought it yet. Such lovely things to knit!
Beautiful photos and patterns. I’d love to have this one on my bookshelf.
I now need to make a Phoebe sweater for my daughter and I love this new collection. Thanks!
All patterns are lovely! I wouldn’t know where to start!
At first glance I thought that Anne’s sweater was going to be my favorite pattern from this collection, but after several more looks I’m seeing some of the amazing details in the other patterns. Marillia’s apron is so wonderful I’d be afraid to ever wear for fear of spilling. I’m in awe of Ann’s carpet bag and I’d love to give my husband Gilbert’s scarf. I can’t decide. They are all so wonderful .
Yes please. I am loving all those patterns. Gorgeous!
Such beautiful knits, absolutely perfect thanks for sharing.
Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite series. My husband and I just down loaded the audio version to listen to in the car on our way to work each day.
These are so beautiful — my mom and I would love to win!
