Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

I’ve been slowly working on my Scroll Lace Scarf for weeks now, meaning to do one little lace repeat each evening, but oftentimes not getting around to it.  I finally finished those lace repeats yesterday though, and now it’s back and forth knitting for the rest of the scarf.  I really want to finish it this month because it is such an October color!  I finished the green Milo vest I was working on for Silas and it really fits him terribly.  It’s too wide, too short, and it is rolling up at the bottom.  So I guess that means I am going to rip it back, knit it longer, and tell myself that it will be perfect for him next year.  I’ll try to knit him another for this year…but he may just end up wearing the too big one.

I finished reading The Woman in White last week and highly recommend it.  Per the suggestion of one of you, I have started reading Hannah Coulter by Wendell Berry.  This book has been sitting on my “to read” list for a couple of years now, and I am so glad to be finally reading it.  This is my first time reading Wendell Berry.  So far I love his style and love this book, so I doubt it will be my last.

    Ginny,
I just love your blog and the muddy pictures of your kids made me laugh out loud…

This is the first time that I am linking to your wonderful “Yarn Along”. I’m not the best knitter, but am working on a Waldorf doll cardigan with lots of help from my knitting mentor.

    Thank you and aloha,
    Lori

Hannah Coulter is my favorite book. 🙂 If you like reading poetry, I think you’d like Berry’s – many of your photographs remind me of his work. Glad you’ve had an opportunity to pick this up!

I’m going to try and link to my instagram image url and see if that works…

Love the delicious autumnal yarn you’re using for your scarf. It *is* perfect October knitting!

It looks like the link took, but it’s unable to show a thumnail pic. My instagram is set to private, so I’m a little concerned that even if you click over that you wont be able to see it. It was worth a shot.

I think I could easily live in a world where you were in charge of all yarn colors, Ginny. Gorgeous for fall!

What a beautiful fall color. I haven’t made much progress on my work in progress, but need to get back at it. Have a wonderful day. Heather

So pretty a pattern and a lovely color, too. Who of us hasn’t ripped out a project? Sometimes, though, I think I’m the only one who ever notices the flaws. Have not read Wendall Berry but will put this one on my 2014 list.

Oh, I have some taking apart and making longer to do also. Maybe. Unless I can convince myself that the pants are long enough…
I really like Wendell Barry too.
And I love Larkspur’s red sweater!!!
    Love to you,

How interesting! I’m familiar with Wendell Berry’s environmental and agricultural non-fiction, but didn’t know about his novels. I’m adding Hannah Coulter to my list; thank you!
