Beatrix loves this sweater! I do too, and I also love that it is big enough that she should be able to wear it for a long time. My Ravelry notes are HERE. The pattern is called Little Ancolie, and I knit it in Madelinetosh Pashmina, the curiosity colorway.
On my mind today though is my friend Elizabeth DeHority, whom you may remember from my teaching children to knit post. She is having surgery this morning to remove a tumor. There is nothing simple or straightforward about the surgery because Elizabeth’s condition is very delicate after years of battling cancer. Would you say a prayer for her and for her family with me today? Maybe when you pick up your knitting? Thank you!

She looks so much older, gone is that little IMO who drew on her face in these photos. The sweater is lovely and you outdid yourself!

Ginny, you are so talented!!! I hope your children know how blessed they are to have you and your magical artistry!!! I can’t believe how grown up Ms. Cutie Pie looks with her hair up, her smile is contagious; you can’t help but smile back at her picture!
I hope you are feeling well and trying to take things easy. Thank you for sharing parts of your life, my family always looks forward to your blog

The color is so completely perfect. The edging turned out sweet and pretty after all! She looks like she really, really loves it!

I’ve always thought Beatrix had her own “look” — not like any of your other sweeties who all greatly resemble one another. But in that last pic I can definitely see Larkspur 😉 My 10yo son gets such a kick out of Beatrix and her exuberant, silly self — especially her love of body art (markers, paint, etc.) — she is a hoot! I wish we still lived in Fredericksburg so you could teach me to knit — the knit-stitch (all I know) scarf I started years ago is getting sooooo long!

Praying for your friend today. I really enjoyed reading her sweet emails. My 3 year old is dying to knit and the emails have given me some courage, and ideas, for teaching her.

Lovely sweater! I will have to check out the pattern page and see what sizes it comes in as my DD is only 14 m. I have some Malabrigo Arroyo (also sport weight like Pashmina) that needs a project! (sjn821 on Rav)
Best wishes for your friend.

Dear Ginny,
Just yesterday I linked up to you about beginning to knit with my children. We have gotten as far as making the knitting needles and I spun up some yarn we dyed together. Now, I just read through your post today from your friend, Elizabeth. So timely!!! And such good advice, so I thank you both for all your wisdom. And while I sit with my 5 year old girl, on my lap, I shall pray for Elizabeth.

Beatrix’s sweater is absolutely beautiful! Such a sweet and happy sweater. And to think that it gave you fits early on! The picot border turned out great. Saying prayers for Elizabeth.

I love Little Ancolie – it’s just beautiful, and Beatrix looks like she loves it 🙂 . I’m currently knitting Cherry Blossom for Girls for my little girl, but I suspect there’s a Little Ancolie in her future!
I’m praying for your friend. And for you too. We have an awesome God who is able to heal, to sustain those who are falling, to comfort the broken-hearted, and who will one day bring an end to all suffering. May our God bring comfort, healing, strength and peace at this time.
Linda says
Oh course prayers are sent for your friend. I love the pics of Beatrix in that sweater. Her hair up in that little knot is so cute.

Absolutely lovely sweater and yes will remember your friend in my prayers today.

Lifting your friend in prayer! Also, Beatrix looks so grown up in these pictures (perhaps having her hair in a bun is the cause). The sweater is gorgeous from the color to the pattern.
Tracey says
Bea looks so big in your photo and so lovely modeling her sweater.
Continued prayers for Elizabeth and her family.
Kate Talley says
Prayers for Elizabeth being said! You are such a wonderful friend, thanks for your help yesterday. Beatrix is beautiful in her new sweater, she looks so grown up….time does that! Sniff, sniff. Here’s to a beautiful day! Sending lots of love and light. God bless you, Ginny
Amy says
Beatrix is looking very grown up in those pictures. Her new sweater is lovely! Praying for Elizabeth today.
Gwen says
Beatrix looks so grown up in these photos! I read often and had to triangulate quite a few of these images before realizing that it was indeed her. When I was her age, a new sweater would certainly have put a spring in my step (not that she needs any extra in that department!) and a no-longer-little-girl smile on my face.
I don’t pray in a manner that most would qualify as prayer, but I do have dedicated thoughts directed from the tangible world toward a broader universal force. I’ll put that effort toward Elizabeth today.
Erin @ Wild Whispers says
Prayers for Elizabeth going up. What a beautiful cardi.
Joy says
The cardigan is lovely. She’s getting so big! Praying for your friend.

I enjoy checking in on you from time to time, you have a beautiful, gentle way about you and are a wonderful knitter. I am a crocheter and also love to read. We have two grown children (adopted) and don’t see much of them. If I had had a daughter, I would hav liked to have one like you! I wonder if there is a chrocheted version of this sweater style. I love the color, length and design. I’ll have to look around. Thanks for sharing and I will say a prayer for your friend.
Tina says
What an adorable little girl. She is so animated, and I can just tell she’s a lot of fun to be around.
And that sweater!!!! It is so perfect in every way- the color, the drape, the style. Can’t get over it. Outstanding work, I do not know how you finish so many projects. You are an inspiration to me!

The cardigan is lovely, you did a great job. Sorry to hear about your friend, I hope that it all goes well and that she recovers from the surgery very soon.
