We are expecting another baby boy this fall! We couldn’t be more excited. Even Beatrix who did literally storm out of the ultrasound room at the “boy” announcement, now tells people that the new baby is going to be her birthday present. Jonny and I don’t have quite the energy that we did ten years ago when our first pair of boys was small, so this will be interesting. While he is adored by everyone he meets, a close friend of ours has described Silas as “feral.” He is rather active to be sure. He just needs a little brother to play with! The girls are counting down the days and weeks until the baby arrives, while Jonny and I are wishing that the days would slow down. There is so much to do around here to get ready! Hopefully I’ll have time to get him covered in the hand knits department. I’m certainly trying!
Ravelry notes for the baby knits:
Milo Vest (I used leftover yarn from this shawl)
Lil’ Midi Bean
Perfect Fit Newborn Socks
My other knits for this baby are in this post.
All the best wishes for good health and delivery. Such happy news!
Congrats to you and Silas, specifically, and to the whole family, generally! Happy knitting, and don’t forget to take some time to relax and nap. xoxo
Well now, all young child should be wild and carefree. I’m certain my closest neighbors might consider our FOUR youngest feral children! I am not worried at all, all of my kids have had a sense of earthy-ness and freedom that is disconcerting to my suburban friends…so far the oldest have grown into well adjusted, intelligent, artistic young people and I have high hopes for the rest of my brood! So go Silas! Congratulations on your new boy! Children are such a divine gift, and the way you and Jonny are working together to honor God’s gifts, lovingly raise a beautiful family…well, it’s very inspiring! Thank you for being a source of light in a murky world, and an example of Christ’s love for me. Love, Kate Talley
that’s a wonderful news!!!!! big hugs! <3
Oh how lovely! Silas will have a pal…my two older an two younger boys tend to pair off a lot, and I always wished my oldest daughter to have a sister close in age, but alas, it was not to be, and Gemma is a decade younger!
Your knitting is gorgeous. And I’m all for feral children. Why else would one raise kids in the country?
Squeel!! So cute!! I love my pair of boys…so very different from the brothers surrounded by sisters that I grew up with! My husband’s family has two “sets” of three boys in a row and it changes the dynamic for sure! But they are so sweet and special…and sometimes I agree, boys just need a brother! So happy for your family, and I LOVE how you did the bottom of the milo…I’ll definitely be trying that! xoxo Mackenzie
Congratulations, that’s wonderful news! Silas looks excited for his baby brother! I love the story of Beatrix- what a little fireball she is.
Congratulations!! That’s so exciting!
And I laughed out loud that Beatrix stormed out of the ultrasound room! Haha!
Do you have names picked yet? Sorry, it’s my favorite part! 🙂
I’m afraid that this baby won’t be named until he is born!
Congratulations Ginny! Silas is looking more Kid now than Baby. They grow up so fast!
My body did the boy – girl – boy – girl pattern for awhile then I had two girls in a row who are the best of friends, even though they have quite different personalities. After them I had a boy and I thought he was my last one (since I was at advanced maternal age), but then four years later I conceived one last time. My son really wanted a baby sister for some reason and even had a name picked out, but now he tells me he’s very lucky and happy he has a brother to play with (and influence, no doubt). I have more boys than girls and while boys are tiring physically when they are younger, they are so much easier as they get older than girls. Teenage girls are emotionally exhausting.
Congratulations!! So exciting. Love that sweet little vest. I’m going to have to start on those for each of my kids. A nice Christmas present I think! 🙂
Congratulations! Thrilled for you! I have 4 boys and one girl already…I adore them all! Boys are so much fun, and exhausting! We go for our ultrasound and get to see what we’re having in just 2 more days. So exciting! {for you and me:-) }
Congratulations!!!
You’re body must make baby genders in pairs 😉
That vest is so pretty, I love the variations in the color.
how exciting! so happy for you and your family
Yay! Yay! Yay! No wonder you haven’t been feeling so well these last weeks. I’m so glad there is a happy reason! Adorable knits : )
Congratulations Ginny!!!! As a mother of 8 I still love thinking of babies, their smell, their little fingers, their bodies… oh just wonderful news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome!!!
Oooh! So exciting! I have to say, I would describe my son as ‘feral’ as well. I’m pretty sure most boys are!
congrats! we have a feral toddler around our house as well — here’s hoping having a baby brother will help him channel that energy a bit!
congrats!!! As long as the baby is healthy who cares whether it’s a boy or a girl, I have one of each and enjoyed them both in different ways 🙂
Oh yes, they’re all wonderful!
The “feral” comment reminded me of the time I went with my partner (we had just started seeing each other) to one of her friend’s houses. Her friend was a kind of hippy/free spirit, and one day when her youngest child had gone to the bathroom (pooped) on the porch, she took a spatula and flung it into the woods. I was a little taken aback at the time (and watched carefully which spatula she used for cooking), but this has become one of our favourite stories, and the child in question has grown into a great young man.
Oh my goodness, that is hilarious!!! I would have been keeping my eye on which spatula she used for cooking too!
How exciting, congratulations on another boy! I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter who left the ultrasound room crying when she found out it was another Brother (I am expecting a boy in October as well!) just like Beatrix, but she is also warming up to the idea. My son is almost 2, and I’m very excited he will have a little boy to romp around with as well. And I loved your puerperium cardigan so much, I knit one for my little boy. Thanks for the inspiration!
Aren’t all boys active??? Oh is it just my three??? How wonderful and exciting and congratulations to you all!
Congratulations, so pleased for you all.

Congratulations! Boys are so much fun.
How exciting! We are due to have our fourth boy in the fall 🙂 We do have one little girl, though. I love having boys- they are a blast. All the best to you and your little man!
Congratulations!! They do take so much energy but I really love baby boys. 🙂 God bless!
I knew it 🙂 Congratulations to you and your family. I think boys are the best! The hand knits are adorable.
Congratulations on the new little fella! Poor Bea! I can sympathize, there’s a video of me somewhere (at 7) at the hospital when my brother was born. Let’s just say, I wanted a sister really badly.
Many Years to this young unborn baby boy!!! I think because of the natural process of things in this world, with energy level changes, etc… the hope is that the older children can pitch in to help with the younger… hang in there… God will not leave you alone in this ~ He is always with us!
Yeah! Congratulations! I love the beautiful knits! And that smile on Silas 🙂
Oh, I’m so happy for you, Ginny!!! This is exciting. And clever you to have them paired up…now, will there be two more girls to follow? hee hee. Also, did I miss something and your two biggest boys are twins? I had always wanted twins and hoped for them the first two times I got pregnant, but by number three I was worried I might have twins. (I never did and that may be a good thing, in hindsight)! Have a beautiful day with your wonderful family…
xo Jules
No, they’re not twins–that’s just poor wording on my part 🙂 Seth and Keats have just about the same age difference that Silas and the new baby will have.
I had a girl, then a boy and pregnancy #3 was ‘girl/boy’ twins!
Congratulations! I understand well the energy level being slightly lower with more boys…but, remember, you will now have older children to help! It makes such a difference!
The older boys are really a huge help, and they are more willing to help with little boys than little girls I’ve found 🙂
Congratulations! Boys are wonderful creatures. They wear their hearts on their sleeves and their thoughts on their faces. (and my girl is one big mystery! 😉 ) Lovely, lovely knitting.
So thrilled for you! I think labor with #7 may have begun for me… I will include your intentions in my offerings today.
How exciting! I’ll keep you in my prayers today!
I don’t know that I’d call Silas “feral” exactly….he’s definitely active but, then again, so is my two and a half year old boy. I think it’s just part of that age and the fact that he’s the baby right now and that his closest playmates are girls and, you know, who wants to play with icky girls 🙂
I think he’ll be glad to have a little brother once said little brother is a bit older.
Yay! So glad Silas will have someone to pal around with!
Congratulations!!! The knits are beautiful and oh so perfect for a new fall baby 🙂
Congratulations!! What a wonderful blessing for Silas and your family!
Congratulations! Your knits are just precious.
Congratulations! Silas will be a wonderful big brother!
What a blessing! I’m so happy for you!
Wonderful news! Congratulations on this blessings!
How funny to have them in couples!
Yay! Congratulations! Embrace the feral 🙂
I’ve been so excited for you ever since that first baby knits post. I’m sure Silas will love being a big brother 🙂
Congrats to you and your family!! Every time you put up pictures with Silas in them, I marvel at how much he’s looking like his brothers, especially as he’s growing out of his baby-ness. You have a beautiful family!
Oh congratulations! I’m glad Beatrix has come round to the idea of another boy.
Congratulations – and boys should be feral shouldn’t they!!! Mine is certainly very lively and full on and I must say although it is exhausting, I wouldn’t have him any other way. Lily. xxx
Congratulations! So exciting!
