**This weekend’s giveaway is from Luna Grey Fiber Arts**

Luna Grey Fiber Arts is a small, one-woman, hand-dyed yarn company based in sunny Western Colorado. Owner/Dyer, Jackie Vlcek, began dying yarn after years of knitting, hand spinning and teaching knitting classes. As an at-home mom to two bright, rambunctious little boys (ages 4 & 8) she enjoys the quiet, color saturated world of her yarn studio. She welcomes custom orders and enjoys working one-on-one with fiber artists to create “that perfect color” for their special projects.

Jackie’s color palette is inspired by her time doing field work for the Nature Conservancy in the Florida Keys. Her colorway names such as “Harbor,” “Marquesas,” “Atlantic,” and “Bahama Village” reflect this. All yarn is natural fiber based – wool, alpaca, silk and cashmere.

What’s next for Luna Grey Fiber Arts?
“While I have focused primarily on internet sales, I would like to expand my business to fiber festivals in the Colorado, New Mexico, Utah area. In the name of “market research” (that’s what I tell my husband, anyway), I will be traveling throughout the west this summer, visiting several fiber festivals to get a feel for what’s already out there and what’s lacking.”

Of the different yarn bases you work with, what’s your favorite right now?
“I tend to enjoy knitting with lighter weight yarn in the warmer months. I love my Orion superwash merino DK base yarn. It’s such a light, soft, sproingy, yarn. It’s perfect for summer cardigans and wraps. I also love Aquila, my cashmere/merino fingering weight yarn. It’s so lovely and drapey. It knits up into gorgeous shawls and decadent socks. And, we all know…Nothing beats cashmere!”
Jackie is offering one Small Things reader the above pictured skein of her Neptune yarn in the Moss colorway. She describes this yarn as: Shades of earthy moss green hand-dyed onto my “Neptune” base yarn. A soft, lofty, single ply, fine count wool yarn. This yarn has an organic, hand-spun look. {100g (3.5 oz) Approx. 219 yds Worsted Weight – single ply Gauge: 4 stitches/inch on U.S. # 6-9 needles Hand wash warm. Lay flat to dry.}
In addition, Jackie is offering a coupon code for 15% off your entire order using coupon code: SmallThings15. The offer will be good through 6/30/13.

My first sweater was a child’s wallaby in a soft green with a pink edge. Then I made a GIANT one (it was my lesson about checking gauge.) for myself. It is very comfy. I should make one more. It is a great pattern. I bet this yarn is so much better than what I used. It seems scrumptious. It is even better that she is from Colorado.
