A New Heartbeat

DSC_5055-6

A couple of months ago we received a little surprise.  Last week Larkspur, Beatrix, and I listened intently as my midwife searched for our new baby’s heartbeat.  I held my breath, listening for the quick pitter-patter above my own thump-thump.  Eventually the sound we were waiting for filled the little room and I listened as my midwife counted quietly under her breath, each precious beat.  I exhaled as my eyes filled with tears.  Sometimes the unexpected gift is the one most precious.

After my appointment, Larkspur and I did the obvious thing, and stopped in at the yarn store to buy yarn for the new baby while the others went on to lunch.  This little one will join us in the fall, the perfect time of year for a knitter’s baby to be born.  Larkspur and I each chose one skein of yarn.  She will knit a hat, and I, a tiny sweater.

After lunch it was decided that rather than face I-95 and sitting for hours in traffic to get back home, that we’d take the long way through Maryland.  We stopped at Purse State Park and spent hours hunting for fossils instead.  It was a perfect way to end the day.  We often take the long way home, and we are always glad that we did.

Wonderful news! I love following your blog, you seem so real to me and I love the things you pick out of your life to share with the world.

We are expecting our 4th in the fall and are wildly excited as well!!!

I have to know, where did you get your lovely dress from?

Old Navy maternity from a few years back! I have three of these dresses. By the third trimester, maternity shirts aren’t long enough to cover and these little dresses do well!

Ginny, We couldn’t be HAPPIER for you & your family!!! So exciting, a new baby!! Your pictures, once again, are stunning!!! I love the one of the family in the water with the sun streaming through the clouds!!

On a side note, do you need any more cloth diapers? I’ve got a bunch that I am no longer using. I also have the little inserts that you use at night. I’ve got about 3 dozen & most are in pretty good shape as I tried to take good care of them. They are yours if you want them!!

    Love you all,
    Cari

Maybe so! Silas’ are looking pretty ratty. I can only use all cotton diapers because I have a low water washer and anything else starts to stink pretty quickly. What sizes do you have? Maybe message me on Facebook? Thanks, Cari!

Congratulations!! Just your title had me smiling! I’m so happy for you guys!

Have you had morning sickness? Is it challenging with having six already to handle the first trimester?
I’m having my 5th this fall and raising my other 4 while dealing with (all day) morning sickness has been pretty brutal. I can’t imagine how you homeschool during the first trimester. Do you take it easy during these first few months?

Anyway, so so happy for your family! 🙂

I was a little sick for a few weeks, but the morning sickness/all day sickness didn’t last very long this time. I have been battling headaches though, which is often the case for me during pregnancy. I am having to take it very easy, a lot of water, and a lot of sitting still. It’s hard because it’s spring and I want to be outside planting my garden–but the resting has been, and continues to be very necessary! I am just trying to focus on school with the kids–making that first priority.

Congratulations! We have 9 and our youngest is now 10. You do get through it all and then you look back and you really do realize that those were the best times in your life. We are only homeschooling four now and I miss the homeschooling them all as well. God bless you and give you strength. “Children are a blessing from the Lord and the fruit of the womb is His reward.”
