Little Woodlanders Giveaway!

Today’s giveaway is courtesy of Rachel from Little Woodlanders!  Her shop is full of loveliness, and I am pleased to introduce her here today.  I asked Rachel to share a little about how Little Woodlanders began:

I started making wooden toys for my children shortly after I discovered the Waldorf ideas about play.  I love the idea of open-ended toys, made of beautiful natural materials, which allow children to use their imagination.
My inspiration mostly comes from my children.  I see what they like to play with and talk about, and often get ideas from them that way.  I also get ideas from going outside and from storybooks.
I opened my Etsy shop in January 2012, so I’ve been going a little over a year.  I started making wooden toys a couple months before that, as Christmas presents for my girls.

My favorite thing about my business is knowing that I’m making natural, handmade, open ended toys for children all around the world that will allow them to learn, use their imagination and have fun!
You can ‘Like’ my facebook page to hear about new products, sales, and for sneak peeks!  You can also follow me on Twitter and visit my blog!

For today’s giveaway I am offering one winner a butterfly life cycle set, and a knitting fork.  The wooden toy life cycle of a butterfly set comes with a leaf, an egg, a caterpillar, a cocoon, and a butterfly.  The set is made of hardwoods and painted with AP Certified non-toxic watercolours The cocoon is not painted, it is naturally brown wood.  A great toy for learning while playing, and also a wonderful storytelling companion!

The knitting fork, also called a lucet, is believed to date back to the Viking and Medieval periods, to create cords that were used on clothing, or to hang items from the belt.  Lucet cord is square and strong.  Luceting is fun and relaxing, can be learned from about age 4, and you can do lots of creative and fun things with the cord.  See my video here on how to use a lucet!

Rachel is also offering 15% off all orders through March 10.  Use coupon code SMALLTHINGS15

For your chance to win, simply leave a comment on this post.  Comments will close and a winner will be chosen on Monday, March 4.  The winner will be announced within this post.

Comments are closed.  The winner is Heather:  Such lovely things!  I’ve never heard of a Lucet; my 9 year old son wants to learn to knit, wouldn’t that be a great introduction!

Thanks, Rachel and Little Woodlanders!

The Little Woodlanders has so many beautiful treasures. My 2.5 year old would love the life cycle set. She’s intrigued by all things bug-related right now. I just started learning to knit about three weeks ago and was inspired to do so because I had just found your lovely blog, Ginny. It was on my “bucket list” and your beautiful work gave me the push to try it, so thank you.
