Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

I’m knitting a scarf.  I feel like I’ve been knitting this scarf forever, and I have only just passed the halfway mark.  I really want to cast on for a sweater for myself.  But first I must finish this scarf.  I must.

In more exciting news, Jonny and I are fighting over Homegrown & Handmade.  Not really, we’re pretty good at taking turns.  But we are both reading it.  The title pretty much sums up the content of the book.  It’s a nice “big picture” sort of book with chapters covering a large range of topics, and really just touching the surface on each.  It’s sort of a springboard book, one you read to help decide what topics you want to really delve deeply into.  Jonny and I love everything and want to do everything.  We’ve always had that problem.

Grab a button for your post or sidebar! Visit the Yarn Along page for additional button colors!
Below is a linky list if you’d like to link up and join the Yarn Along.
(1) Make sure the link you submit is to the URL of your blog post or your specific Flickr photo and not your main blog URL or Flickr Photostream. Please be sure and link to your current Yarn Along post, and not a Yarn Along post from a previous week.
(2) Include a link back to this post in your blog post or on your flickr photo page so that others who may want to join the Yarn Along can find us!
(3) If you have any trouble linking up, just email me and I will help you!
You can also join the Flickr Yarn Along group to share your knitting and reading photos anytime!

Hi Ginny! Your scarf is coming along nicely and that book looks very interesting! I saw on FB yesterday that you are in the midst of night-weaning. My LO will be two in a month and I’m getting pretty desperate to do the same. My husband isn’t as on board to help out as yours though…lol. Have a great day!

I looked at that book a few times online. I have a similar homesteading collection of books. Please let us know some of the main topics that really were of intrest to you. Is this something one should get if they allready have a collection of sorts?

Ginny, I love that pattern for the scarf. It looks much like the feather and fan pattern on the shawl I am knitting right now. It is so lovely, especially when it is blocked! Thank you, always, for hosting this fun weekly knitting circle!

Joining in today for your Yarn Along. Thanks for giving us all a place to meet.

I’ve also read Homegrown & Handmade and enjoyed it. Your scarf looks great and I hope you’re able to finish it soon so you can start that sweater. :o)

When I knitted that scarf recently it took a lot longer than I thought it was going to, too! It’s a nice relaxing knit, though, isn’t it?

I voted 🙂 Hope you win!

I am also loving ‘Homegrown & Handmade.’ I purchased it digitally a while ago to try out Better World Books’ digital service. I haven’t gotten very far into it, mostly because I don’t have a tablet so I am attached to the computer if I want to read digital books. I’d love to hear what you think of it. xo

Your knit looks wonderful, so professional!
Perhaps I need to pick up a copy of this book myself? I could pass it on to my sister once I’m done. Or is it the kind of book you want to keep forever in your shelf and pull out occasionally?
Enjoy the rest of your week 🙂

I really want that book. Well actually I have a lot of those kinds of books. Being a renter still the most I can do is container garden, and all the cooking from scratch and handmade things. But I’m thinkin about the chickens and bees and such.

That book looks perfect for my husband and myself! I’ll have to look for it! And I am also working on a scarf that I must finish so that I can work on other projects. I have a shawl and sontag for historic reenacment that I really want to get to, but I need to get this scarf done first (and preferably while it’s still cool enough out for my husband to enjoy it this year!)
