Oh, Beatrix.

One of Beatrix’s favorite phrases is “I don’t know what to do!”  I heard that a lot yesterday.  She finally headed upstairs and played quietly long enough for me to finish math lessons.  When she came back downstairs she looked like this, and she was quite pleased with herself.

Oh, Beatrix.

p.s.  I have a chance of making it into the top six in the The Homies awards if you guys would please go vote for Small Things.  Signing up to vote only requires you to enter your name and email address.  It’s really easy and every vote counts.  Voting ends tonight at midnight EST.  Please?

p.p.s.  Yarn giveaway tomorrow!

Rhiannon, 11, still prefers her own body as a canvas. It certainly is convenient, as it’s always available.

I love it! I have a similiar photo of my 23 year old daugther in a much larger wig of the same kind. It’s my favorite photo of her. That is so much fun.

Voted 🙂 Have always wondered if Beatrix gets in trouble for drawing on her face. Have to admit my kids would have been in massive trouble if they had continually none this.

THIS is why I keep coming back. 🙂 She makes my smile every time. I have a 5-year-old boy who is a LOT like Beatrix. I think I just feel good knowing there are more like him.

Yes, my Betsy (age two) always covers her face with makeup and markers when I’m not looking. Sometimes I’ll do anything for a few uninterrupted minutes! And I voted. Good luck!

I love the photo sequence– is that a moment when you grab the camera to take a picture in order to calm everyone down first?

I don’t even bat an eyelash when she marks her face and body up with markers anymore! It’s just so Beatrix. Now paint all over the place? That’s a bit harder to deal with!!

voted for you 🙂 …love the photos 😀 – painting on yourself is fun! I remember putting blue and purple paint all over my hands and then making hand-prints on the paper – and that was in high school with the ink they use to print newspaper – my hands were blue for a week 😀 – I guess you never really grow out of this 😀

I remember that wig on Gabe! What to do with these wacky Four year old children of ours? They are quite something. I guess we just love them as much as we can as the little people they are. And hope that they outgrow a thing or two by the time they are grown!

I once painted my face like an Native American (although we politically incorrectly called them Indians then, but it was the 80’s what did we know 🙂 ) with Mary Kay samples someone gave my mom. That was fun.

And take note of the “mommy coping technique” of grabbing the camera instead of throttling said child. 🙂

Well, she’s colored herself so many many dozens of times, that I don’t get upset when it’s just her body that gets colored! Marker messes are easier to deal with than paint messes! Still–grabbing the camera is always a good rule of thumb in these situations. It will be a lot of fun to look at all the crazy Beatrix photos with her one day.

    Oh my goodness…is that marker?

Julia used to paint all over her face whenever we had paints out. I think marker might be worse. Or better, I suppose, depending on whether you are the child or the mama… xo

yep! marker is definitely harder to remove from the child–but I prefer marker messes to paint messes! The paint gets everywhere!
