The Vermont Branch Company Giveaway!

Today’s giveaway is from Tonya of The Vermont Branch Company.  You might know Tonya from her blog, Plain and Joyful Living.  It’s a lovely chronicle of her family’s days, living simply and with gratitude.

The Vermont Branch Company is a small family business, and I asked Tonya to share a bit about her family and their shop here today:

I’m so excited to be offering a giveaway here at Small Things!  Our family – Mom, Dad, and seven children (the oldest of which is in his first year of college and the youngest is 15 months old) work, learn, and play together on our small homestead in northern Vermont.  After living in Massachusetts our family felt that we were called to live more simply, work with our hands if possible, and be as family centered and community involved as we could. We feel blessed to have found our little rustic cottage on 3.5 acres in a small town with just 600 people. Although we live 4 miles down a gravel road, we know most of our neighbors within a mile radius.

Our business has evolved over the years from making simple waldof style toys to rustic home decor and now we also offer a wedding line.

Most of our items are made of birch, maple or ash. Our family gathers branches from neighbors’ lands. One neighbor wants their field expanded. Sometimes we gather branches after the power company clears the lines.

Today we are offering to one winner:
a set of 2 large hooks, a set of 3 medium size hooks, and a set of 5 small hooks, all pictured above.
These hooks are made of birch and are amazingly strong. We use them for our coats, aprons, brooms, towels, and play silks for example.
Thank you and blessings,
Tonya, Mike and Family

The Vermont Branch Company is offering 20% off all orders placed between now and February 2nd.  Use the code “smallthings” at checkout.  For your chance to win all three sets of hooks, simply leave a comment on this post.  Comments will close on Monday January 28, and a winner chosen via random number generator will be announced within this post.   Comments are closed.  The winner is Sabrina:  “Love these hooks! I’ve been searching for the perfect rustic hooks for my entry area. These would be fantastic!

very nice! i could think of a million places we could use something so pretty and useful….we left all of our old coat and bag hooks in our old house b/c we understood them to be “permanent fixtures” they way they were attached to the walls. apparently our sellers didn’t feel the same way as they took every hook and shelf in our new house when they left. now we have huge holds in the walls and no hooks anywhere. 🙁

I love the way their need and use of the materials coincides with their neighbors’ need to have their land cleared. It seems to be the best of both worlds with no one exploiting anyone in the exchange. We could use more of that.

Thx for doing the giveaway and sharing a bit about your home and family mission. It is an aspiration for us to find or build a cabin and homestead at some point. For now we learn and grow where we are as my husband still works in the IT world.
    Bless you!

That is so interesting. I can’t really imagine that kind of life but on the other hand it might be very nice. Ok well maybe I can imagine it. I am surrounded by neighbors within about 60 feet on all sides in the back yard. No privacy! Thank goodness that they are good neighbors but I know one day that could change.
