I’ve had very little time for knitting in the past week, which is difficult, but true. I’ve only managed to work on Keats’ vest because it is mindless round and round knitting. He, by the way, isn’t helping me with it as I had hoped he would. It’s baseball season, and I guess he’s preoccupied. I’ve got three skeins of gorgeous Madelinetosh wound and ready for a new project, but just can’t seem to get started. I am also working on something very practical and frugal for Seth’s upcoming birthday, but I’ll keep that a secret (Seth reads my blog.) Really he knows about it, but I am pretending that he doesn’t.
I am absolutely loving Far From the Madding Crowd despite the fact that there are frequently words if not entire sentences that I don’t understand. With reading time precious and spare, who has time to grab a dictionary every other minute? Not I. I get the big picture, and that’s what counts.

Not much of a reader, I tend to be on the computer or be knitting or crocheting while others are reading. I read on vacation at poolside, so nothing going on that front now. Love your blue and green! A favorite combo. Haven’t been around much, happy to see you all again.

Hi Ginny! Mindless knitting is a necessity – especially after releasing such a lovely pattern! Congrats! I’m working on flower girl sweaters for my sisters wedding in a few weeks. I have great hopes of finishing her bridal shawl soon too… but (big sigh) you know how it is, life as a mama doesn’t always equal knitting time!

Oh Ginny, I love reading on a Kindle/Kindle App on another device for books like that – click on the words and it gives you the definition. It’s how I’ve not only read loads of books I mightn’t have otherwise, but also expanded my vocabulary of useless, forgotten words 🙂

The blue-greens of the vest are just lovely. Outside, the world is cloaked in fog so I’m at the moment smitten with bold pops of color. I haven’t read that author. I’m knitting some gifts for my girls, but really have my eye on a cardigan pattern for myself. But, it seems like this season my own sweater is a bit off. I think each soccer afternoon will deliver so much time to knit but then I’m so wrapped up in the sideline action I hardly knit. Go figure! xoxo

Most of my knitting time happens in the car, so some weeks I don’t get that much knitting done. 🙂 I just started a pair of socks for Jeff that I’m excited about.
I want to knit a vest for Bracken. I’m still searching ravelry for a pattern I like with some DK weight yarn that I have on hand.

One thing I really like about the Kindle is if you come across a word you don’t know, you just touch the word and the dictionary listing pops up (though not a good enough reason on its own to buy one). 😉

I haven’t gotten much knitting done either lately. I just love the color of that yarn you are using. I think I tell you that every week! It’s one of my favorite color combinations.
I say that much of my current reading is light, because I don’t have the time to grab a dictionary or the mental capacity to follow many different characters. One day again I will read those tomes. Love the vest colors. So bright and fun.
I enjoy that kind of reading, too…just the craftsmanship (or womanship!) of words is fascinating even if by the time you reach the end of the sentence, you have know idea what you just read. It IS all about the big picture, isn’t it? 🙂

Ah, a Milo in Chroma! I did one for Gemma in a rainbow Chroma (“Prism”) and it is very soft and is holding up very well. I am knitting a Milo for Dominic right now, and the mindless round-and-round is just what I need at the moment, although my reading is decidedly less challenging than yours! I love Thomas Hardy (I remember how I hated The Mayor of Casterbridge when I began the book and loved it by the time I finished it), but I have to be in the right frame of mind to tackle him.

I have one son that lives and breathes baseball so I know what you’re saying about being preoccupied. These days I am finding all I want to do is knit, which really isn’t all that practical when one has a family that expects clean clothes and food every single day! Geesh, they really cut into my knitting time 😉

The good thing about having a kindle is you can arrow to the word and get the meaning straight away. It has done me wonders and it has meant I have been able to read a lot of books for a previous period. They use sooo many words that aren’t used anymore it’s unbelievable.
