Brambleberry Yarns Giveaway

This weekend’s giveaway is from Brambleberry Yarns.  In Cynthia’s words:  “Every yarn found in my shops has been dyed using only natural dyes. The beauty of natural dyed fibers is hard to describe. They simply glow and like magic compliment each other, naturally.”

What’s new at Brambleberry Yarn?

There has been some really exciting news for Brambleberry Yarns this month! July 1st marked the opening date of our very own website:   BrambleberryYarns.com. I’m really excited about what we have planned for this new site. Customers can now reach me directly through our new website or through the Etsy shop. Brambleberry Yarns has grown one baby step at a time so this is a very exciting leap for both me (the yarn dyer!) and my family who have always been actively involved and supportive in the growth of our little yarn shop.

What’s growing in your dye garden right now?

Currently growing- and doing incredibly well despite our very wet and cool summer- is one of my all time favorite flowers for dyeing which is Tansy. It’s pretty little button like yellow flowers make a very nice yellow or green dye depending on how you use them. I cannot wait to begin harvesting them again as well as Goldenrod. Goldenrod is another favorite of mine and will be in bloom next month. One man’s weed is another man’s dye plant and I have actually been letting some weeds grow about the garden this year as I am experimenting with what colors can be achieved with them. One such weed is Yellow Dock. I have also noticed Horsetail growing all around where we live and it might be finding its way into my dye pots here soon. I rarely look at a plant, be it garden variety or weed, and not wonder if I can achieve a nice dye out of it!

Can you share what you will be dyeing next?

Just last week I noticed Queen Anne’s Lace is in flower all about me so I will be planning a dye session with that dainty flower in the next week or so. It makes a nice soft yellow which always surprises me as the flowers are so white and delicate looking!

Cynthia is giving one Small Things reader the above (and below) pictured 436 yard skein of superwash merino fingering weight yarn.  This skein is her Raspberry Sock yarn base. The colorway is ‘Red Geranium’.

There are TWO ways you can earn chances to win.  First simply leave a comment on this post. Second, “like” Brambleberry Yarns on Facebook and come back and leave another comment letting me know you did so.

Cynthia is also offering a discount code:  15% off all orders for one week (July 21st- July 28th). Use the code SMALLTHINGSLUV in either the Brambleberry Yarns Etsy shop or the new Brambleberry Yarns website.  Be sure to check out both shops as there are different yarns available in each.

Comments will close and a winner will be chose randomly on Tuesday July 24th.  The winner will be announced within this post.  Comments are closed.  The winner is Sally:  “it’s delicious — thank you!  :)”

I planted some Woad, some Weld and some Coriopsis this year, also some tall goldenrod, but it’s growing so slowly, I hope it’s a perennial. Love the color you have there and my wife would love it to knit with. I haven’t learned yet and haven’t yet had the time for her to teach me. We have yellow dock everywhere, make tea from the roots and sprout the seeds but didn’t know we could dye with it, or the queen annes lace. Great giveaway.

I am new to this site and Small things but I “Liked” you on Facebook and thinking that I should keep your website a secret from my knitting friends. Sadly, they would rather buy Wal-mart yarn than this one of a kind beautiful yarn. So, more for me!!
I love quality more than quantity!
I LOVE your yarns and colors…I would love some real indigo colored yarn as my website is
