Sponsored Giveaway: Brambleberry Yarns

Today I am pleased to host a giveaway from Cynthia of Brambleberry Yarns!  I asked Cynthia to share with us all a little about herself and how she got started dyeing yarns using plants and natural dyes.

Brambleberry Yarns is truly a labor of love for me. I have always been passionate about plants and knitting.  A few years ago my two passions combined when I began experimenting with using plants from my garden and natural surroundings to dye my own yarns.

The colors achieved from natural dyes are simply beautiful and harmonious.  I was immediately addicted!  I say that my yarns, fibers, and knit wear are a labor of love because so much goes into every ounce I produce.  My children and I grow and gather the plants, herbs, nuts, and other items that end up in the dye pot.

Creating natural dyes is a slow process. One batch of dye can take up to several days to prepare.  Everyone in the family always enjoys seeing the yarns or fibers emerge from the dye pot because you can never really predict what color will come out.  Things such as climate, soil, and time of year all affect what color will be achieved with natural dyes.  This makes the whole dye process very exciting and extremely unique too.  It is impossible for me to reproduce the same dye lot twice using my methods of dyeing.  I dye in small quantities making each and every item one of a kind.

My family and I reside in the absolutely beautiful Pacific Northwest where it is easy to be inspired by nature’s surroundings.  We enjoy all that this lovely area has to offer while homeschooling our two youngest children.  When not in my little dye studio I can usually be found in one of three places:  in the garden getting completely muddy, curled up on the couch with my latest knitting project, or in the kitchen experimenting with another gluten free recipe.

Cynthia is kindly offering to one Small Things reader two skeins of fingering weight organic merino yarn that she dyed with goldenrod flowers handpicked by she and her children.  This yarn is such a gorgeous sunny yellow!

In addition, Cynthia is offering 10% off all orders though Friday November 18.   Use the code “smthings10 at checkout.

There are THREE ways you can earn chances to win.  First simply leave a comment on this post, Second, “like” Brambleberry Yarns on Facebook and come back and leave another comment letting me know you did so, and for a third chance add Brambleberry Yarns to your Etsy favorites and leave another comment!

Comments will close and a winner chosen via random number generator on Monday.

Comments are closed.  The winner is Kristina :
“Her yarn is so beautiful! I’m looking for a yarn to send my aunt for her birthday, and this may just be it.”

Congratulations!
