Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

I took a little detour from my current reads and my bigger knitting projects this week.  I knit a matching doll cardigan to go with the little legwarmers I was working on last week.  The end result is cute, although I feel like all that yellow is a bit much.  I hope that the little girl whose doll I knit this for will be pleased though.  The doll is one that I made a couple of years ago to donate to a fundraising craft sale for a local to me women’s shelter.  One of my close friends actually bought it for her daughter, who has requested some new clothes for her dolly for her upcoming birthday.  If you are interested in the doll pattern, you can find it here.  I resized the doll cardigan pattern to fit this doll, and my changes are detailed on ravelry.

I quickly read Kisses from Katie this week.  I have been looking forward to her book, as I have read Katie’s blog here and there over the past year or so.  I recommend reading her blog a bit before deciding if you want to hunt down a copy of her book.  Katie’s story takes place mainly in Uganda, and while our family has a strong tie to Africa, we know that we don’t have to cross the ocean to find people less fortunate than we are.  My take home message was that as a family, we could be doing more to love our neighbors, not to mention each other, right here in the U.S.  Katie is a very inspiring young woman, and I hope that many others are encouraged by her story.

Below is a linky list if you’d like to add a link to your own Yarn Along photo.
(**And those of you posting crochet projects, don’t forget to add the word “crochet” next to your name to make yourself easier for other crocheters to find! )
(1) Make sure the link you submit is to the URL of your blog post or your specific Flickr photo and not your main blog URL or Flickr Photostream. Please be sure and link to your current Yarn Along post, and not a Yarn Along post from a previous week.
(2) Include a link back here in your blog post or flickr photo page.
(3) If you have any trouble linking up, just email me and I will help you!

You can also join the Flickr Yarn Along group to share your knitting and reading photos anytime!

I often link to resources that I and my family personally use and recommend. I participate in the Amazon associates program and if you enter Amazon.com through my blog and then make a purchase, I receive a small percentage of the sale. I never recommend a product or resource for the sole purpose of being compensated financially. If I write that we use or love something, you can trust that we do.
