Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a single photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

Before I talk about my current knit and read, I want to share a couple bits of knitting news:
For some time I have been thinking that with this great community of knitters and crocheters that has grown up surrounding our weekly Yarn Along, that it would be really neat if we could all work together on some sort of simple service project.  Last week I received an email from a woman hoping to collect 400 knitted or crocheted hats for Japan, and after emailing back and forth with her, decided that this just might be the perfect project for us to do together!  Betsy has a son who lives in Japan, and she will be traveling there in August to visit and to deliver all the hats that are collected.  You can read all the details about this project, and get the address to mail the hats to in the Knit for Japan post.  There is also a little button you can grab from either that post or my sidebar if you would like to add it to your own blog and help spread the word about this project.  Thank you so much in advance.  I really hope we can help Betsy reach her goal of 400 hats!
The other fun news is that Elizabeth of Keep on Spinning is teaming up with Elizabeth of In the Heart of My Home to host an Elizabeth Zimmerman Baby Surprise Jacket Knit Along.  If you would like to join us (I’ve never knit a BSJ-and am really excited about this!) you can link up HERE.  There will be plenty of support and this project is beginner friendly!
Okay, back to my Yarn Along for this week:  Beatrix has been really sad about all my baby knitting lately because she prefers that I knit for her of course.  So, I am knitting a Boheme vest for my Bea in Madelinetosh Vintage yarn (Betty Drapers blue) that actually was intended for the new baby.
I am still reading the same books I have been reading for weeks, but did start a new read aloud called The Easter Cat with the boys this week as it arrived in a lovely box of thrifted books from my sister.  We have enjoyed the other Meindert Dejong books we have read, but a couple of chapters in, I am not sure what I think of this one yet…
Thanks so much for playing along friends!
(**And those of you posting crochet projects, don’t forget to add the word “crochet” next to your name! thanks!)

Below is a linky list if you’d like to add a link to your own Yarn Along photo.
(1) Make sure the link you submit is to the URL of your blog post or your specific Flickr photo and not your main blog URL or Flickr Photostream. Please be sure and link to your current Yarn Along post, and not a Yarn Along post from a previous week.
(2) Include a link back here in your blog post or flickr photo page.
(3) If you have any trouble linking up, just email me and I will help you!

You can also join the Flickr Yarn Along Group to share your knitting and reading photos anytime!

    Ginny,

Oh my, your additions were obviously too much for me…so I tripled it! I am so sorry, please delete the first two, or I should say number 145 and 146! I did not realize it was connecting all those times.

    I’ve enjoyed your site!
