A bit more snow

We got a few inches of snow late last week, and of course I was off in my own little world, clueless about what was coming, and ended up stuck without any groceries.  It wasn’t really a big deal, but our van doesn’t handle snow well at all.  Thankfully there was frozen chili (from I don’t know how long ago!) in our freezer for dinner, and I was able to escape the next day and stock up on food.

For the past few days my living room has been buried under a  heap of wet snowsuits at various times of the day, there have been lots of muddy wet footprints across the floors, and even piles of dirt under the upstairs windows from my kids opening them to break icicles off the roof.  Jonny loves snow and feels all happy, warm, and cozy when we get it, and I have my moments.  Snow makes my family happy, and I try to stay cheerful amidst all the work that comes with it.

This has been Trudy’s first experience with snow, and she loves it as much as she does water.  She is the main one making muddy tracks through the house as she doesn’t leave her boots at the door when she comes in (neither does Larkspur, but she is supposed to!!!)

Jonny is excitedly planning the boys’ first snowboarding trip (not sure when, but it will happen this winter.)  They are all so excited.  Jonny loves to tell people that were it not for meeting me, he would be living in Colorado now, snowboarding all winter.  He makes sure only to say it when I am listening, to pick at me (with a big grin on his face.)  It is true that we met as he stepped out of a Land Rover full of college boys on their way home from picking him up from a winter spent living in Colorado, working at a resort and snowboarding every day.  He did plan to go back…

Seth just crashed into a tree; Gabe thinks it’s kind of funny.

The snow is dwindling, and today’s snowman is a bit nasty looking.

But, the girls still love him.

I hope you all had a great weekend!  I am off to plan our homeschooling week (being really disciplined and responsible here, despite the fact that I would like to take the week off.  I am anticipating needing time off later in this pregnancy, and planning ahead.  Still skipping math this week though, so it won’t be too bad.)
