There are several people in my family, whom I won’t name, who are guilty of leaving objects on shelves, the mantel, pieces of furniture, and basically anywhere but where the objects belong, rather than putting them away. So periodically, I have to do a sweep of these problem spots, putting away the objects that are cluttering my otherwise intentionally arranged clutter. Last night I did a sweep of all the cluttered places and it made today a much nicer day! I wasn’t distracted by those piles and was more able to do what I wanted to do with my time.
I am always picking up marbles. I don’t know why they are everywhere. They are choking hazards for crying out loud!
My desk got a good cleaning, making a nice clean spot for today’s sewing project,
and also a place to sit and start making Advent plans! Advent will be here before we know it! (I will be going to both The Catholic Home: Celebrations and Traditions for Holidays, Feast Days, and Every Day and Elizabeth for inspiration.)
While going thought the stacks of books on my desk, I came across an extra copy of The Grit Cookbook: World-Wise, Down-Home Recipes
. I must have bought an extra intending to give it away, but forgot. Jonny and I both went to college in Athens, Georgia and The Grit was one of our favorite restaurants. I have been cooking recipes from this cookbook for more than eight years. It is a vegetarian cookbook, but trust me, meat eaters will find plenty to love as well. There are also lots of vegan recipes (although I always swap margarine for real butter and soymilk for real milk in those myself!) The cookbook is worth having for the dessert recipes alone…blondies, chocolate eclair pie, Lil’ Jim’s Puddin’ Cake, Orange Creamsicle cake, and I could go on!!!
For a chance to win The Grit Cookbook
, and one of my custom notecards with an aspen shot on it, just leave a comment on this post! I will close comments and announce a winner this weekend.
