Chickens are kind of creepy looking

Look at those creepy eyes. I can understand why some people have a poultry phobia. I think these guys are super cool and fun, but I could definitely get a little freaked hanging out in the henhouse with them at night if I let myself.

They do a lot of flapping around and squawking and they are not little anymore. None of them are very tame either. We just have too many for any one of them to be particularly tame. We’ll see what they are like when they are bigger, but I can’t imagine any of them choosing to jump in our laps at this point. Honestly, I really think that is better for us anyway.

One word…TERRIFYING!I've been afraid of birds/chickens for as long as I can remember.. And theres' just something about the fact that chickens just jump up and flap and fly around your head at a moment's notice that leaves me unsettled.

It probably is just as well they're not in your lap. But, they are "younguns" themselves – they look to me like "teenaged" chickens so I wouldn't expect any outpouring of affection or any quiet peaceful times with them at this point!

Our neighbors have quite a few chickens. Our daughter and their daughter are always with the chickens but even though they will act tame sometimes for no reason they turn around and pinch you with their beaks hard enough to leave a mark! The rooster was absolutely terrible. I wanted to pluck him and boil him myself. He flogged all of us all the time. They finally got rid of him with a warning to the buyer. It's so worth it for those fresh eggs!!
