Mamma4earth Giveaway!

Today’s giveaway is from Linda of Mamma4earth.  You may also know her from her blog, Natural Suburbia where she writes about her family’s adventures on their homestead in South Africa.  I asked Linda to share a little about herself and her designs with all of you:

I can honestly say that I love what I do. I never thought, when I was younger, that I would be spinning my own wool on a spinning wheel, knitting toy animals and designing my own patterns! I studied to become an Archaelolgist, met my wonderful husband and after we were married, we had our four beautiful children. This is when everything changed… I simply wanted to be with them and nurture and teach them. We discovered Waldorf philosophy and Charlotte Mason, I felt an immediate connection to these two schools of thought, something about them resonated within me and our life changed to a new course. We then brought our children home from school to be educated. Along this path, I fell in love with natural toys made from wool and fleece and with this, together with my passion for African animals, I dove into the wonderful world of design. When I look at animals I can ‘ see’ them in wool, the designs emerge in my minds eye and I have to knit them.

I have also started designing cowls and have just finished with my first cowl test knit. It was so wonderful and humbling to meet all those wise knitters who guided me and taught me so much over the last few weeks. I am enjoying this new direction my knitting is taking, cowls are quick and very satisfying to design. I feel I can really get creative with different stitch techniques and merge them together within a cowl. Cowls are also such a wonderful compliment to one’s clothing, a simple outfit can be transformed into something elegant by wearing a cowl.

As for my animal patterns, I am doing some research to find out what people would like to knit, at the moment I am thinking of designing a Panda pattern, they are such goreous creatures and need to be knitted:)

For today’s giveaway, Linda is offering one Small Things reader eight of her patterns, winner’s choice.  For your chance to win, simply leave a comment on this post.  Comments will close and a winner will be randomly chosen on Monday, March 18.  The winner will be announced within this post.

Comments are closed.  The winner is Kelly J.R.

‘Your animals are so cute! Can I suggest a turtle?”

Linda can also be found on Facebook, Twitter, Ravelry, Pinterest, and Craftsy!

Thanks, Linda and Mamma4earth!
