I said, “No Bea.  You can’t bring that stuff home.”

Beatrix cried and begged, insisting on the old pan of jar lids, and the whiskey bottle.

I walked ahead, trying to ignore the tears.  Eventually, all became quiet and I looked back to see that not only had Jonny given in, but he was also carrying Bea’s treasures for her.

I remarked, “Wow Bea, you sure did work your magic powers on daddy.”

In triumph, she answered, “Yep, I suuuuure did.”  (There just may have been a cheeky grin on her face as she said so.)
